About the Role
At Ericsson, we are seeking a knowledgeable and dedicated Support Engineer to join our team. In this pivotal role, you will be charged to operate and support Ericsson NFVI and CNIS platforms across production, pre-production, and lab environments. Ensure high availability, performance, and resiliency for 5G, IMS, and other VNF/CNF workloads.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate, troubleshoot, and optimize Ericsson NFVI, CNIS, CEE, Kubernetes, SDN/SDI, networking, and storage platforms.
- Support CNIS data fabrics, Anycast Gateway, BGP, EVPN/VXLAN, ECMP, Clos/spine-leaf architectures, and multi-VRF environments.
- Lead complex incidents from triage through root cause analysis, permanent remediation, and post-incident reviews.
- Contribute to HLD/LLD, deployments, upgrades, expansions, migrations, and infrastructure changes in line with Ericsson and customer processes.
- Improve capacity, performance, failover, ingress/egress optimization, and overall infrastructure resiliency.
- Plan and execute upgrades, patching, hardware refreshes, and compatibility or regression testing.
- Develop automation and infrastructure-as-code using Python, Bash, Ansible, and/or Terraform.
- Maintain monitoring, logging, alerting, telemetry, runbooks, topologies, and operational documentation.
- Collaborate with CU, PDU, design, product, and customer operations teams, and mentor junior engineers.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, telecommunications, engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- 10+ years of hands-on experience in cloud infrastructure and network operations, preferably in telecommunications or large-scale distributed environments.
- Strong experience with Ericsson NFVI and/or CNIS deployments in production environments.
- Proven experience with data center fabrics, production Kubernetes/CEE clusters hosting CNFs, and storage platforms supporting telco workloads.
- Demonstrated ability to lead complex technical incidents and deliver root cause analysis and remediation.
Technical Skills
- Ericsson NFVI and CNIS architecture, including compact and scalable fabric designs.
- IPv4/IPv6, BGP, EVPN/VXLAN, ECMP, Anycast Gateway, LAG/MC-LAG, and high-availability networking.
- Kubernetes cluster operations, CNF deployment patterns, service exposure, ECFE, networking, storage integration, and upgrades.
- SAN, NAS, and software-defined storage, including performance, capacity, resiliency, and I/O troubleshooting.
- Monitoring and logging tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, or equivalent.
Soft Skills
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, collaboration, and ownership skills.
- Ability to work effectively across teams and cultures, including during high-pressure incidents.
- Willingness to mentor engineers and improve operational reliability.
Nice to Have
- Experience with Ericsson 5G Core, IMS, PCG, PCC, or other core network VNFs/CNFs.
- Familiarity with service meshes, ingress controllers, and network policies.
- Networking, cloud, or Kubernetes certifications such as CCNP, CCIE, or CKA.
