Our Japan Sales Operations team seeks a seasoned and strategic Customer Business Operations Specialist. This meaningful role focuses on direct customer relationships. You will manage the entire order lifecycle, from forecast management to delivery and post-shipment support. Collaboration with sales, finance, and operations is essential to maintain smooth and reliable processes.
What you'll be doing:Own the complete order and supply management for a strategic direct customer. Process purchase orders and coordinate booking and delivery with internal teams. Manage schedule changes and track weekly forecast against supply commitments. Proactively resolve delays, pull-ins, and push-outs with operations and demand planning teams.
Handle finance-related operations including monthly payment confirmation, accounts receivable reconciliation, credit limit management, and rebate tracking.
Develop and maintain customer-facing and compliance documents — export parameter sheets, environmental regulatory surveys, and quotations — and assist with RMA processes from start to finish, including approval tracking, return shipments, and defect rate reporting.
Work alongside sales, finance, operations, and global teams to facilitate flawless delivery across the customer's multiple production sites and promote continuous progress in our methods.
Strong analytical skills — comfortable working with data, identifying discrepancies, and translating findings into actionable recommendations.
Excellent communication skills in both Japanese and English, written and verbal.
Demonstrated capability to collaborate across departments and maintain connections with sales, finance, operations, and international colleagues.
Experience in direct customer-facing operations roles — comfortable managing relationships with customer procurement teams and external partners.
Passion for improving processes and driving operational excellence; genuine enthusiasm for this type of customer operations work.
Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, or a related field.
More than 3 years of experience in customer operations, supply chain operations, or order management.
Practical experience with order-to-delivery workflows: order intake, booking, backlog management, shipment coordination, and post-delivery follow-up.
Experience with an ERP or order management system (e.g., SAP or equivalent).
Flexibility is essential in this role — we are looking for someone who can navigate ambiguous situations and non-standard customer requirements with ease. A genuine interest in using technology and automation to improve how work gets done is also important.
Experience in a direct customer operations model, including use of customer-proprietary ordering or procurement systems.
Practical experience in finance operations including accounts receivable management, credit limit coordination, or rebate processing.
Experience with export compliance paperwork (e.g., parameter sheets for export authorization, environmental regulatory surveys).
Background in a high-growth technology or semiconductor company.
Familiarity with CRM tools and business intelligence platforms for reporting and data analysis.
The ideal candidate is a diligent problem solver who thrives in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment. You balance day-to-day execution with a mentality for continuous improvement, and you build customer trust through consistent, reliable follow-through. Ready to make a real impact?
