Over the course of the internship, the student will rotate through Underwriting, Credit Approval, Appraisal Services, Special Assets Group (SAG), and the Credit Risk Project, gaining exposure to end-to-end credit lifecycle management. This opportunity is designed for a motivated student who wants to understand how credit decisions are made, monitored, and managed across different functions within a financial institution. The intern will engage with credit professionals, participate in analytical work, and observe executive-level discussions that shape portfolio and risk strategies.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Underwriting:

· Assist with financial statement spreading, collateral analysis, and risk grading using Moody’s CreditLens

· Support basic market and comparable property analysis to evaluate project feasibility

Credit Approval:

· Gain knowledge of lending policies

· Attend OM discussions on new lending opportunities

· Attend SLC meetings as applicable

· Enforce policy requirements during the loan structuring and approval processes

Appraisal Services Rotation:

· Learn how both residential and CRE appraisals are ordered, reviewed, and validated.

· Understand how key valuation elements – such as property condition, market comparables and income potential – are factored into loan structuring and risk assessment.

· Explore the foundation of the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice and gain familiarity with the three primary valuation methods.

· Gain exposure to the environmental assessment and CRE construction risk review processes and understand how findings impact loan decisions.

· Attend team meetings to observe cross-functional collaboration and decision making

Special Assets Group (SAG) Rotation:

· Gain exposure to workout and restructuring processes for challenged or non-performing loans

· Observe how risk mitigation strategies and collateral recovery actions are developed

· Participate in portfolio reviews and special asset status reporting

Credit Risk Project Rotation:

· Support project coordination, data organization, and process documentation within the Credit Risk function

· Assist with automation and reporting initiatives across the department

· Observe how enterprise projects are managed and presented to executive stakeholders

WHAT YOU'LL GAIN:

Exposure to end-to-end commercial credit lifecycle, from origination to resolution

Hands-on experience using Moody’s CreditLens for spreading and risk grading

Opportunity to attend Credit Committee meetings and observe executive decision-making

Understanding of how appraisal values, LTVs, and market data influence underwriting and portfolio risk

Development of professional skills in data management, communication, and project coordination

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in Business Administration, Management, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline

• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word); familiarity with project tools (Microsoft Project, SharePoint, or Smartsheet) is a plus

• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
