The successful candidate will support all underwriting roles within the department and report into the Vice President of Property & Specialty.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Manage underwriting calendars
- Set up submissions
- Process accounts to be bound or declined
- Create Underwriting Memos or Referral Templates
- Use pricing systems to access information for binding
- Attend market events and meetings as need
- Review accounts to process both premium and losses
- Respond to queries and requests
- Maintain underwriting files
- Manage contract wording correspondence between broker, internal legal team and underwriting team
- Assist with reporting / adhoc projects and presentations
The following minimum qualifications and skills are required:
- 2 years of insurance or reinsurance experience and/or university degree
- Proficiency in MS Office Applications
- Excellent interpersonal & communication skills (both written and oral).
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Self-discipline and ability to complete tasks independently
- Willingness to work extended hours and holidays as needed
The individual will also have to be a proven team player and have demonstrated the ability to work effectively within a demanding environment.
