We are looking for a Creative Design Lead to join our Marketing Team; as we scale up and drive digital and financial inclusion across our markets.

The Role

As we scale our impact in Nigeria, we're looking for a Creative Design Lead who doesn't manage from a distance but gets hands-on. You'll be the creative powerhouse behind our marketing campaigns, translating complex fintech propositions into engaging, high-converting visual assets. Because our audience responds strongly to dynamic video content, advanced motion graphics and video editing skills are non-negotiable for this role. You'll bridge high-level brand strategy and fast-paced, thumb-stopping execution across digital, social, and traditional media channels.

About Us

M-KOPA is a pan-African fintech platform that gives underbanked customers access to life-enhancing products and services, including smartphones, solar power, loans, and health insurance. We recently reached 10 million customers across Kenya, Uganda, Nigeria, Ghana, and South Africa, and our asset-finance model has unlocked more than $2 billion in credit. 86% of our customers report an improved quality of life, and 55% are accessing formal financial services for the first time. None of that happens without visual storytelling that people actually stop scrolling for.

This is a hybrid role, you would be working from our office in Nigeria, partnering with a diverse group of employees from our different markets and locations across the UK, Europe and Africa. You will be reporting to the Marketing Operations Manager.

What makes this different

Most creative lead titles trade the tools for a seat at the strategy table. This one doesn't make you choose. You'll own the brand direction and still be the person animating the explainer video, colour-grading the reel, and directing the shoot. This role sits at the centre of Nigeria's growth story, not on the sidelines of it.

What You'll Do
  • Own the visual identity of M-KOPA Nigeria across all marketing campaigns, ensuring consistent, high-quality brand alignment.

  • Translate marketing objectives, consumer insights, and product features into compelling, culturally relevant visual stories for the Nigerian market.

  • Design, animate, and deliver high-quality motion graphics, typography, and visual effects for digital ads, social media, and product explainer videos.

  • Lead the end-to-end video editing process (cutting, colour grading, sound design, and mixing) for both short-form (TikTok, Reels, YouTube Shorts) and long-form content.

  • Oversee live-action video shoots and photoshoots, including directing creators, actors, or internal talent where necessary. Collaboration & execution.

  • Maintain an organised pipeline of creative assets, ensuring projects are delivered on time in a fast-paced environment.

  • Take on any other tasks as assigned by the hiring manager.

What You'll Need
  • Demonstrable experience (3-5 years) in motion graphics, animation, and video editing, with a portfolio that shows range across short-form and long-form content.

  • Proven track record leading video production end-to-end, including colour grading, sound design, and directing liveaction shoots.

  • Strong understanding of the Nigerian market and what makes visual content culturally resonant and highconverting.

The honest part
This role is demanding. You'll be juggling strategy and hands-on execution in a fast-paced environment, often against tight timelines and last-minute changes. But if you thrive on seeing your work translate directly into sign-ups and lives changed, this is exactly that kind of stretch.
If this sounds like the role you've been quietly hoping existed, let's talk.
