The ~70,000‑square‑foot Manassas facility operates within Catalent’s Consumer Health portfolio, supporting programs from early development through commercial manufacturing and packaging. It is designed for dietary supplement and food‑safety cGMP operations, making it distinct from Catalent’s traditional pharmaceutical and biologics manufacturing sites.

Position Summary

We have an opportunity for a Cost Accountant to join our team and play a key role in managing cost accounting processes. In this role, you will ensure accuracy in production and inventory records, maintain compliance with cycle count requirements, and support financial reporting. You will also assist with standard cost development and contribute to the annual budget process. This position offers the chance to make a meaningful impact on operational efficiency and financial integrity.

The Role

  • Lead and monitor the Work Order closure process

  • Perform all cost accounting responsibilities for month-end close

  • Review and enter daily production and consumption records

  • Verify monthly raw material, work-in-progress, and finished goods inventory cycle counts; audit and maintain cycle count documentation for accuracy and completeness; ensure compliance with counting frequency and requirements

  • Monitor inventory and manage paperwork approval, tracking, and filing to maintain accuracy

  • Analyze data for discrepancies in manufactured product costs by reviewing manufacturing variances and identifying issues in routings or bills of materials

  • Perform roll of standard costs and ensure all active raw materials and intermediate items have accurate standard costs

  • Ensure integrity of standard costs and item attributes that impact costing or standard accounting flows

  • Assist in annual budget process with standard cost rate development

  • Prepare other monthly and quarterly financial reports as necessary

  • Perform other duties as assigned

The Candidate

Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum five years’ experience in cost accounting or manufacturing experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field of study

Preferred Skills & Background

  • Advanced proficiency with various Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, such as Sage or JD Edwards

  • Advanced PC skills, including advanced spreadsheet functions such as Pivot Tables and Lookups
