Job DescriptionAt TAL, our Legal team plays a vital role in helping us deliver confidence and care to our customers when they need it most. As a Legal Counsel, you’ll provide trusted advice that supports informed decision making across the business, helping navigate complex challenges while ensuring we meet our legal and regulatory obligations. Working closely with a diverse range of stakeholders, you’ll contribute to meaningful outcomes that protect our customers, strengthen our business, and support TAL’s purpose of helping Australians live a life filled with choices, options and freedoms.
In This Role You Will:
- Provide trusted legal advice that enables confident, customer-focused business decisions.
- Navigate complex disputes and complaints to protect customer outcomes and TAL’s interests.
- Partner with Claims and Underwriting teams to manage legal risk and achieve business objectives.
- Strengthen regulatory compliance through expert guidance on industry obligations and standards.
- Build legal capability across the business through practical coaching and knowledge sharing.
- Collaborate across teams to deliver clear, commercially focused legal solutions and advice.
- Admitted to practise law in Australia, with 3+ years’ post qualification experience.
- Experience providing legal advice within financial services or another regulated environment.
- Knowledge of insurance law and the regulatory landscape relevant to customer outcomes.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in law and a commitment to ongoing professional development.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with a collaborative approach to partnering across teams.
- Highly organised, self-motivated and able to manage competing priorities in a dynamic environment.
