Content & SEO Executive

Reports to: Marketing Automation Specialist

Hours: 10 hrs/week

 

Purpose

Produce all customer-facing written content for Local Hosting UK and for client accounts — website copy, blog, knowledgebase, product descriptions and email copy to a publishable standard in UK English.

 

Responsibilities

  • Write and publish blog articles, guides and knowledgebase articles.
  • Write and maintain product descriptions and website page copy.
  • Keyword research, content planning and on-page SEO (titles, meta, headings, internal linking, schema basics).
  • Technical SEO monitoring: indexing, crawl errors, broken links, Core Web Vitals reporting.
  • Write email and landing page copy to the automation specialist's brief.
  • Deliver the same for client accounts, matching each client's tone of voice.

 

Essential tools and experience

2+ years writing commercial content professionally.

Native-standard written UK English. This is non-negotiable the work publishes without heavy editing.

WordPress — publishing, media, categories, Yoast or Rank Math.

SEO tooling — SEMrush or Ahrefs for keyword and competitor research.

Google Search Console and Google Analytics 4 — able to read and act on the data, not just export it.

Comfortable writing about technical products (hosting, domains, DNS, SSL) in plain language for non-technical readers.

 

Desirable

Screaming Frog or similar crawler.

Schema.org structured data.

Experience writing for IT, hosting, SaaS or professional services.

Basic HTML/CSS for fixing layout issues in published posts.

 

What good looks like in the first 90 days

Our empty knowledgebase populated with the 30 most-asked support questions.

A published content calendar running four articles a month without chasing.

All product descriptions rewritten, consistent, and free of placeholder text.

 

Screening request

Two writing samples of 500+ words, at least one on a technical or B2B subject.

Please confirm the samples are their own unaided work and ask directly what role, if any, AI tools played in producing them we are not against AI-assisted drafting but we need to know.

 


General Requirements (Applicable to All Roles)

• Work during UK business hours.

• Attend mandatory daily stand-up meetings (approximately 20–30 minutes via Slack). - NON NEGOTIABLE

• Camera must remain ON during all meetings with colleagues, clients, and management. - NON NEGOTIABLE

• Maintain a stable, high-speed internet connection.

• Present a professional appearance during video meetings.

• Avoid AI-generated work; prioritize authentic, human-created content and communication.

• Collaborate effectively with other virtual assistants and team members



Skills Required

  • At least 2 years of professional commercial content writing experience
  • Native-standard written UK English
  • WordPress publishing experience, including media, categories, and Yoast or Rank Math
  • Experience using SEMrush or Ahrefs for keyword and competitor research
  • Ability to use Google Search Console and Google Analytics 4 to interpret and act on data
  • Ability to write about technical products such as hosting, domains, DNS, and SSL in plain language
  • Screaming Frog or similar crawler experience
  • Schema.org structured data experience
  • Experience writing for IT, hosting, SaaS, or professional services
  • Basic HTML and CSS skills for fixing published-post layout issues
