Description
The Nexstar Washington, DC Bureau is seeking a Content Producer to develop, produce, and distribute news content for Nexstar’s 116 local television stations and their streaming CTV platforms, including NewsNation and TheHill.com.
The DC Bureau provides coverage to markets across the country, including New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Denver, and Tampa. This position is based one block from the U.S. Capitol and requires daily, in-office work.
The ideal candidate is a strong writer and producer with a passion for political and government reporting, and the ability to translate complex developments in Washington into clear, concise, and engaging content for local audiences.
Job Summary
The Content Producer works with the Executive Producer, CTV Host, reporters, photographers, and other newsroom staff to produce, write, edit, and distribute content across broadcast, digital, and streaming platforms. Responsibilities include live streaming production, news gathering, video editing, and coordination of daily coverage.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Produces and executes live and recorded streaming content, including daily programs
- Maintains daily event schedules and monitors news developments and political calendars
- Routes live feeds, ingests video, and distributes content to Nexstar stations
- Monitors and edits news events, press conferences, and interviews for broadcast and digital use
- Writes and edits scripts for broadcast, digital, and CTV platforms with attention to accuracy and clarity
- Edits video for vo/sots, packages, and long-form content
- Develops enterprise story ideas and pitches content relevant to local audiences
- Researches and analyzes information to ensure complete and accurate reporting
- Coordinates and conducts interviews with lawmakers, analysts, and other newsmakers
- Assists with guest booking and segment production for live and taped programming
- Field produces special coverage, including live shots and interviews
- Publishes and distributes content across websites, apps, CTV, and social media platforms
- Collaborates with bureau staff and Nexstar partners, including NewsNation and The Hill
- Ensures all content meets company standards for journalistic integrity and production quality
- Performs other duties as assigned
Requirements & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism or a related field, or equivalent work experience
- 2–5 years of experience in political, government, or broadcast/digital news
- Prior experience in news producing required
- Strong writing, editing, and communication skills
- Familiarity with live streaming and CTV production preferred
- Proficiency with non-linear editing systems and digital news gathering tools (e.g., OBS, vMix, CMS platforms)
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and handle multiple assignments
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Knowledge of Capitol Hill, federal agencies, and political processes preferred
- Experience covering Washington, DC or a state capitol is a plus
- Valid driver’s license with a good driving record
- Flexibility to work any shift, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
Physical Demands & Work Environment
The Content Producer must be able to sit for extended periods, use standard office equipment, and communicate effectively in person and electronically. The position requires the ability to make independent decisions and work in a collaborative newsroom environment.
Occasional outdoor work may be required in varying weather conditions. Must be able to lift and operate equipment weighing up to 25 pounds. Work may occur in varying lighting conditions.

Salary Range: $75,000.00 - $80,000.00 based upon experience
