Our Consulting Engineers are an integral part of the Customer Experience (CX) team delivering Lifecycle Services to our customers! We combine the power of Cisco Analytics and Knowledge with the outstanding technical expertise and consulting (that's you) to drive value, innovation, and adoption in our customer's network. We help them to reduce risk, drive innovation, and enhance their network to meet business objectives. We are the customer's trusted advisor and guide, helping the customer understand their network, reduce risks, and take advantage of the technology. We work closely with Cisco Engineering to advocate for innovation for our customer and as a liaison, share what is coming with our customers to help them be the groundbreakers of technology.
Your Impact
This role requires you to be self-motivated, flexible and to be able to balance multiple projects at the same time. As a Consulting Engineer, you will help drive the effort to transform our current and future architecture for our customers. In addition to day-to-day customer activities, training and mentoring other engineers will be required. Bring your creative solutions and be an asset to our team!
Responsibilities:
- Lead and drive the full lifecycle of technology design, implementation, and optimization projects, ensuring solutions directly accelerate customer business outcomes and align with strategic objectives.
- Act as the primary technical focal point for assigned engagements, taking full ownership of project delivery while resolving sophisticated technical issues through lab simulations and advanced troubleshooting.
- Collaborate extensively with cross-functional teams, partners, and customers to support presales efforts, translate complex business requirements into robust solution architectures, and influence technology transitions.
- Develop and maintain high-quality technical deliverables, including design documentation (HLD/LLD), implementation plans, and digital intellectual capital to enhance team efficiency and knowledge sharing, while leveraging AI and automation.
- Implement innovative delivery methodologies and provide technical guidance to ensure project quality, efficiency, and effectiveness across multi-functional teams and customer environments.
Minimum Qualifications –
- Leverage 8–10 years of experience managing the full lifecycle—planning, design, implementation, and optimization—of 4G/5G mobile wireless solutions and end-to-end mobility architectures.
- Possess deep technical expertise in 3GPP standards, packet core nodes (S-GW, P-GW, MME, SMF, UPF, etc.), StarOS, and Cisco hardware platforms including ASR55k, UCS, and Nexus.
- Demonstrate proficiency in cloud-native and virtualization technologies—such as Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, and OpenStack—integrated with automation skills in Python, Linux, and AI/ML to enhance network efficiency.
- Deliver comprehensive technical documentation, including high- and low-level designs, MOPs, and implementation plans, while performing rigorous software risk, security vulnerability, and network health assessments.
- Act as a primary customer-facing focal point for proactive problem resolution, utilizing excellent communication skills to engage stakeholders and provide support across both Cisco and third-party technology ecosystems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to influence, motivate and work in a highly cross-functional matrix environment to drive outcomes based plans, programs and execution.
- Hands-on experience with 5G Packet Core call flows and load testing.
- Proficiency in Cisco products like SORA, SLM, ASR55K, StarOS, VPC-DI, Ultra-M, CVIM, CNDP, CPS, UCS, Nexus, Catalyst.
- Networking Certifications like CCIE/CCNP, Devnet, CKA, RHOSP, RHOCP etc. Certifications in AI/ML/Agents/MCP/DevOps.
- Experience in Cisco delivery for software risk analysis, security vulnerability analysis, network health check reports, internal data base and reviews.
