The Role

JOB DESCRIPTION
Responsible for independently leading projects and activities involving complex systems or multiple deliverables focused on optimizing conformity assessment solutions within assigned area (s), particularly digital technologies. Anticipates internal and/or external business challenges to solve unique and complex problems that have a broad impact on business requirements, risks and/or complexity related to Conformity Assessment Scheme development, management, consultation and/or external influence.
RESPONSIBILITIES
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Leads unique and complex conformity assessment activities, within an assigned area(s), particularly digital technologies to drive results, within function responsibilities, related to:
    • Conformity Assessment Scheme development
    • Conformity Assessment Scheme Management and/or
    • Consultation activities
    • External Influence
  • Recommends solutions that balance business needs with safeguarding UL's integrity and Mission while ensuring compliance with established requirements.
  • Actively monitors the changing conformity assessment landscape to anticipate new technology, regulatory and/or market trends and recommends process improvements to UL's conformity assessment policy portfolio and related governance structure.
  • Proactively engages with internal/external stakeholders to understand present and future market needs related to acceptance of conformity assessment deliverables.
    Influences the internal/external conformity assessment community using sound Principals and best practices.
  • Provides recommendations on the alignment of Conformity Assessment Schemes with the commercial and strategic business goals.
  • Leads internal/external teams or complex projects requiring greater resource requirements, risk, and/or unique complexity, and develops the strategy for project execution.
  • Manages the performance of direct reports, if applicable by defining accountabilities, establishing performance objectives, providing
  • Takes into account the related market and customer needs, trade policy, regulators, ULS Policies, accreditors and other stakeholders.


QUALIFICATIONS
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE PREFERRED

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related fields. Certification, and/or experience in digital technology preferred.
  • 8 - 10 years or more related experience or demonstrated competency.
  • Internally and/or externally recognized as a thought leader, with broad expertise in applied conformity assessment.
  • In-depth and/or breadth of expertise in regulations and applied conformity assessment.
  • Proficient in understanding of relevant international conformity assessment standards (CASCO toolbox) and their applications.
  • Advanced understanding of market trends impacting assigned area of responsibility.
  • Expert in the technical vocabulary common to conformity assessment services.


MINIMUM SKILLS PREFERRED• Ability to clearly communicate unique and/or complex concepts and influence others to adopt a different point of view.• Demonstrated ability to organize and facilitate internal and customer meetings, negotiate and produce the desired outcomes.• Advanced project management, and leadership skills to manage projects utilizing personnel from multiple disciplines and organizational levels.• Ability to identify and manage priorities as demonstrated by the ability to establish, track, and meet schedules for multiple projects while maintaining high quality and exceptional customer service.• Demonstrated ability to function effectively in a matrix organization.• Strong communications, interpersonal and networking skills.• Excellent presentation skills.
MINIMUM ABILITIES PREFERRED• Open mindedness and ability quickly grasp new concepts and ideas.• Lead internal and external teams to solve unique and/or complex problems.

  • Total Rewards: We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. The estimated salary range for this position is $100,000-$135,000 and is based on multiple factors, including job-related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, as well as other factors. This position is eligible for annual bonus compensation with a target payout of 20% of the base salary. This position also provides health benefits such as medical, dental and vision; wellness benefits such as mental and financial health; and retirement savings (401K) commensurate with the standard rewards offered in each individual location or country. We also provide full-time employees with paid time off including vacation (15 days), holiday including floating holidays (12 days) and sick time off (72 hours).
