About this opportunity:
Ericsson NPI Supply site Tallinn in Estonia is looking for a mid-level Computer Vision Engineer to join our Production Technology FA Equipment Development & Manufacturing team. The core focus of this role is to develop intelligent vision solutions for automated production (assembly) systems.
This opportunity will allow you to combine imaging technology, software, and automation to solve complex manufacturing challenges and bring cutting-edge equipment to life. This is position is part of a team of 15 specialist including. Automation Engineers, Computer Vision Engineer, SW Engineers, Robot Programmers, CAD-CAM Engineers, Mechanics Engineers, mechanics and technicians.
Please note, this is a hybrid role (with at least 3 days per week on site commitment) based at our supply site Tallinn in Estonia. To be considered for this opportunity you either already reside in Tallinn Estonia or willing to relocate to Estonia.
What you will do:
• Design, develop, and maintain computer vision and optical inspection solutions for industrial production.• Develop and support AOI applications using Cognex In-Sight Explorer, EasyBuilder, and Spreadsheet programming.• Collect, organize, store, and analyze image and production data to improve inspection performance.• Apply image-processing, machine-learning, and AI techniques to vision applications.• Perform and maintain camera calibration, including intrinsic and extrinsic calibration.• Implement coordinate transformations between camera, robot, tool, and world coordinate systems.• Support the selection and testing of cameras, lenses, lighting, and other vision hardware.• Develop, test, and deploy vision applications in Linux and Docker/containerized environments.• Troubleshoot vision systems and provide technical support for production equipment.• Collaborate with automation, equipment, manufacturing, and software engineers.• Maintain technical documentation and follow software development, version-control, and change-management practices.• Maintain and improve vision-system datasets, inspection results, and related production records.• Support the reproducibility of vision and ML experiments through documented configurations, data versions, and software versions.• Assist with deploying and monitoring computer vision or ML solutions in development and production environments.• Investigate inspection failures, calibration issues, and system performance deviations.• Participate in technical reviews and communicate findings to relevant engineering and production teams.• Follow company requirements for documentation, software access, data handling, and production-system changes.
The skills you bring:
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, Automation, or a related field..
At least two years of experience developing computer vision, optical inspection, or AOI solutions.• Good programming skills in Python, C++, or a similar programming language.• Practical experience with OpenCV or comparable computer vision libraries.• Experience with image data collection, storage, annotation, analysis, and performance evaluation.• Basic understanding of machine-learning and AI methods used in computer vision.• Experience working with Linux systems and command-line tools.• Experience using VS Code or a similar development environment.• Experience with Docker or other container-based development and deployment environments.• Familiarity with camera calibration, image formation, and coordinate transformations.• Familiarity with Cognex In-Sight Explorer, EasyBuilder, or Spreadsheet programming.• Understanding industrial production processes and vision-system troubleshooting.• Basic knowledge of Git and software development practices.• Good communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills.• High proficiency in English (C1/C2 level).
Advantageous qualifications and expertise:
• Experience with ROS or ROS 2 in robotics and computer vision applications.• Knowledge of data storage techniques for image, sensor, and production data, including structured databases, file-based storage, or object storage.• Experience with machine-learning frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.• Experience with Azure Machine Learning, Azure MLOps, or related model-training and deployment workflows.• Familiarity with model versioning, experiment tracking, dataset management, and automated ML pipelines.• Knowledge of camera, lens, and lighting selection for optical inspection.• Experience with industrial communication protocols such as TCP/IP, Modbus, or PROFINET.• Familiarity with PLCs, industrial robots, barcode readers, or automated production equipment.• Experience with CI/CD, automated testing, or deployment of containerized applications.• Familiarity with cloud-based or real-time computer vision solutions.
