Job Summary:

The Compliance Specialist will be responsible for processing Incident Reports within the Compliance Tracking system and managing the policy management system. The Specialist will prepare management reports of completed incidents and outcomes providing benchmarking, trends and patterns as well as other data metrics. This position will be responsible for processing authorizations on a walk-in basis for patients looking to obtain their medical records. Education, training, and implementation of process improvement are also critical components of this position. The ability to maintain skilled knowledge of subject content and provide education to providers is essential. The Compliance Specialist will assist the Compliance Manger in the completion of additional reports, reviews and gathering data and metrics for investigations, audits or certification/reviews as identified.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the implementation and maintenance of the Jordan Valley Health compliance program to include, but not limited to, processing incident reports within the compliance tracking system. The Specialist will prepare management reports of completed incidents and outcomes providing routine benchmarking data and identifying areas for improvement based on trended data provided from incident reporting system. Education, training, and implementation of process improvement are critical for this position. 
  • Ensure adherence to HIPAA privacy and security requirements.   
  • Participate in compliance monitoring activities.  
  • Assist with investigation of reported compliance concerns and potential violations. 
  • Maintain accurate compliance records, reports, and documentation. 
  • Support employee compliance training and educational initiatives. 
  • Coordinate, deliver, and oversee the onboarding training for all new employees; develop and update training materials as needed; monitor training completion and compliance rates; follow up with leaders and staff to ensure timely completion of required training. 
  • Prepare reports and presentations related to compliance activities. Assist the Compliance Manger in completion of additional reports, reviews and gathering data and metrics on investigation outcomes. 
  • Attends and participates in compliance meetings, departmental meetings, committee meetings, team meetings and vendor calls, as assigned. When requested, attendance will be in person. 
  • Attains all agreed goals and objectives within specified time frames, as part of Jordan Valley Health’s overall mission. 
  • Responsible for assisting walk-in patients with authorizations and obtaining their medical records in a timely manner. 
  • Promotes the education and development of students, interns, residents, apprentices, and other new staff by sharing expertise, responding to questions, and fostering a positive and supportive learning environment. 
  • Collaborate with clinical, operational, and administrative teams to promote a culture of compliance. 
  • All other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  •  Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required.
  •  Minimum of two years’ compliance/quality experience. Basic knowledge of healthcare regulations and compliance principles. 
  •  Certification in Healthcare Compliance (CHC) via Health Care Compliance Association (HCCA) preferred, but not required.
