The Community Engagement Coordinator combines two critical functions in service of Goodwill Dallas's mission: building community awareness and partnerships that connect people and partners to our Workforce Development programs, and managing the Goods for Good volunteer program, which channels donated goods to nonprofit partners serving people in need.

This role is a talented relationship-builder and operational connector who is equally comfortable representing Goodwill Dallas in the community, coordinating cross-departmental program logistics, and leading a volunteer program with heart. Success requires exceptional communication skills, strong organizational instincts, and the flexibility to move fluidly between outward-facing community work and detail-oriented internal coordination.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIEs

Community Outreach & Partnerships

• Cultivate relationships with community organizations, faith-based entities, schools, group homes, probation/parole systems, and other referral sources to connect prospective clients to Goodwill workforce development programs.

• Represent Goodwill Dallas's mission at job fairs, community events, and partner meetings.

• Assist with planning special events and managing short-term outreach projects.

• Maintain current knowledge of other social service agencies and community resources.

• Maintain list of resources and points of contact for internal team to reference for client support as needed.

• Partner with Marketing team to develop marketing assets and promotional materials for Goodwill workforce and volunteer programs.

Goods for Good Volunteer Management

• Recruit, onboard, and train volunteers to shop and sort donated goods for the Goods for Good program.

• Work closely with Advancement and Retail Operations to ensure effective relationship management and alignment with operational needs and capacity to host volunteers.

• Build and maintain volunteer schedules to ensure reliable shift coverage.

• Cultivate and maintain relationships with Goods for Good nonprofit partners, understanding the needs of the clients they serve.

• Coordinate the process of matching sorted donated goods to nonprofit partner requests and needs.

• Maintain accurate records of goods distributed, volunteer hours, and partners served.

• Ensure volunteer shifts run safely, smoothly, and in alignment with Goodwill standards.

• Recognize and steward volunteers to encourage engagement and retention.

• Track and report on Goods for Good impact metrics (goods distributed, partners served, volunteer participation).

2. Attending in-service and related training as assigned by Management.

QUALIFICATIONS/COMPETENCIES

1. Commitment to Goodwill’s Core Principles.

2. B.S. or B.A. in social services, business, or a related field preferred, or equivalent years of related experience may substitute at the discretion of Goodwill.

3. Minimum of two years of experience in community relations, program coordination, or volunteer management.

4. Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.

5. Strong presentation and people skills.

6. Prior volunteer program or volunteer coordination experience preferred.

7. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).

8. Flexibility to adapt to shifting tasks and priorities across outreach, program operations, and volunteer management.

9. Ability to work effectively across several departments.

10. Reliable transportation and ability to travel within the Goodwill Dallas service area required.

Skills Required
