Salary Range: $58,400 - $81,900.00 plus annual bonus

The Communications team protects and promotes NiSource, Columbia, and NIPSCO brands and our license to operate. We develop and maintain strategic partnerships with stakeholders and Executive Leadership Team to support and champion business initiatives. This team also executes and maintains reputation plan to manage risk (proactive) and enhance crisis response.

As a Communications Specialist you will leverage strong written, verbal and visual communications skills to strategically manage and execute effective communications plans and tactics supporting NiSource's business strategy across seven operating companies. In this role you will understand customer and stakeholder needs, and develop and execute on communications strategies across all internal and external channels. The Communications Specialist collaborates with NiSource senior leaders and communications teams across the company, while providing 24/7 crisis communications and issues management support.
This Communications Specialist will support Finance, Supply Chain, and the Strategy department.

Your responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Works with business partners to develop and implement communications plans, including strategies, timelines and tools

  • Executes on editorial, media relations and communications strategy across NiSource and our local companies

  • Builds storytelling and branding skills, while employing multimedia techniques across multiple channels

  • Facilitates strong, collaborative relationships to successfully deliver on enterprise-wide efforts and local communications strategies

  • Develops and executes communications projects, which may include graphics, content and branding support

  • Develops multi-media content for deployment across internal and external channels

  • Creates materials (e.g. brochures, videos, announcements, publications) to deliver customer, employee and other stakeholder communications

  • Leverages analytics and other communications measures to support effective communications

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

Experience listed below could be obtained through a combination of schoolwork, course work, research, or any relevant previous job or internship experiences

Please include any business administration, finance, technical writing, project management, and/or communication coursework, school projects, or internship(s) related experience on resume

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • 1+ year of communications experience

  • Solid understanding and use of AP Style


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with design software (e.g. Adobe suite including, Photoshop, etc.) and content management systems and HTML
