The Role

Overview

The Business Applications & Platforms (BAP) team is responsible for building Microsoft's intelligent business applications and low-code platforms - covering products and services from Dynamics 365, Power Platform, Copilot and beyond. BAP products offer a new generation of business applications and low-code development tools that are driven by data, designed for collaboration, and enable anyone across roles and functions to build amazing applications and transformative business solutions.

We are looking for a Communications Manager to help develop and implement BAP's internal communications strategy. As a critical member of the BAP Executive Office, you will report to the BAP Communications Lead and work closely with cross-functional stakeholders to craft messaging and content, drive critical employee programs and initiatives, and lead event production to inform and engage an internal audience of 5K+ global team members.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to launch highly visible programming, influence and shape employee experiences, and collaborate on creative communications content. This role will enable you to gain a breadth of communication experience and allow you to develop skills in effective storytelling, employee listening & data analysis, visual design principles & branding, and event production.

Responsibilities

  • You will contribute to and implement an employee-facing communications strategy, including an editorial calendar, that aligns to and promotes the BAP mission, business strategy and culture. This will involve ensuring a consistent voice across channels.
  • You will support the creation of storytelling, messaging and other content to inform and faciliate employee communications. This may include organization emails and newsletters, SharePoint sites, and specific initiatives and events.
  • You will produce internal events and communications programs, including leadership Ask Me Anythings (AMAs) and employee town halls.
  • You will collaborate with others to develop and produce executive communications materials and tactics (e.g., briefing documents, talk tracks, video scripts, PowerPoint slides), building on the effectiveness of previously used materials.
  • You will use data and insights to measure and evaluate effectiveness of communications programs and to iterate as content, platforms and desired outcomes evolve.
  • You will create and manage visual brand assets and templates for the BAP Executive Office and broader business management team.
  • You will leverage your expertise of stakeholders to execute tasks, as well as manage and refine expectations and priorities. You'll also identify opportunities to enhance public perception of Microsoft, as well as spot and suggest actions to potential factors impacting our reputation.
  • You will monitor and analyze the impact of messaging for a given issue, then create responses as needed. You'll also gather and synthesize data from various sources to iterate solutions, as well as determine which metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Finance, or related field AND 2+ years Communications, Marketing Operations, Field Operations, Program Management, Project Management, or related experience
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years experience supporting executives in an executive communications role.
  • 2+ years experience producing and organizing in-person and virtual events.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Finance, or related field AND 4+ years Communications, Marketing Operations, Field Operations, Program Management, Project Management, or related experience
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years specialized functional technology experience.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Solid project management skills and ability to manage projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Technical acumen and excitement about how Microsoft and BAP products and services empower our customers.

Communications IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $80,900 - $162,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $105,300 - $176,900 per year.
