IKEA Social Entrepreneurship is looking for a Communications intern to support the creation and placement of engaging content that makes a difference. You’ll spend six months working at IKEA Social Entrepreneurship. Here, you’ll learn how we support social enterprises to create a more inclusive and equal society. Our work is a collaboration between the IKEA business, NGOs and social entrepreneurs. You’ll learn different ways to support the success of social enterprises through communication and storytelling, and how it leads to a more inclusive and equal society. You’ll also have the opportunity to learn about the IKEA business, how it operates, and how it’s organised.
IKEA Social Entrepreneurship is placed at the intersection of business and philanthropy, so you’ll have the unique opportunity to explore and develop a wide range of communications skills from corporate communications and media relations to employee engagement, impact storytelling, events and creative content development.
Job DescriptionDuring your time with us, you can expect to:
Assist in developing and executing communication strategies to promote IKEA Social Entrepreneurship programmes and partnerships.
Work with our partners to develop programme communication plans and impact stories.
Support the activation and engagement of a new digital platform for social entrepreneurs.
Create engaging content for digital platforms, including articles, social media posts, and website updates.
Collaborate with team members to coordinate and support marketing campaigns and events.
Monitor and analyse the performance of communication channels and provide insights for optimisation.
Support internal communication efforts, including drafting internal announcements, newsletters, presentations, and other materials.
Assist in building and maintaining relationships with external partners, stakeholders, and media contacts.
In addition, you’ll support other communication-related tasks and activities, such as presentations, maintaining databases, and preparing for events (internal and external), depending on your interests and skills.
During your time with us we’ll work together to find projects for you that add value to both your experience and IKEA Social Entrepreneurship.
We’re looking for someone who:
Is a native or near-native English speaker (essential) with excellent written and verbal communication skills, particularly for storytelling and content creation.
Is currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Media, International Relations, or a related field.
Has srong content creation skills, with the ability to write engaging articles and digital content tailored to different audiences.
Is familiar with social media platforms, content management systems, and basic analytics tools.
Collaborative and proactive working style, comfortable engaging with international teams, partners, and stakeholders across cultures.
Has strong organisational and multitasking skills, with the ability to support multiple projects, events, and deadlines simultaneously.
Has a learning mindset and is and not afraid to ask questions
Has a demonstrated interest in social impact, sustainability, or social entrepreneurship, ideally through studies, volunteering, or personal projects.
This internship is for a period of 6 months, 40 hours per week, starting as per 15 August or 1 September 2026. The compensation for this fulltime internship is EUR 500 a month. Relocation is not possible for this internship; your current place of residence should be The Netherlands.
