POSITION SUMMARY


The Commis I is responsible for preparing and cooking high‑quality food items in line with recipes, standards, and food safety procedures. This role supports daily kitchen operations by completing basic food preparation tasks, maintaining cleanliness, operating equipment safely, and delivering consistent meals. The position also contributes to a positive team environment and supports overall guest satisfaction.


POSITION SUMMARY

  • Prepare and cook assigned food items by following recipes, portion standards, and quality guidelines.
  • Assist with setting up and breaking down workstations; complete basic food prep such as washing, chopping, peeling, and measuring ingredients.
  • Operate kitchen equipment safely and check food and equipment temperatures during service.
  • Maintain cleanliness by washing and sanitizing kitchen areas, tools, knives, and equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety standards and report any maintenance or safety concerns to Supervisors.
  • Communicate effectively, support team goals, and uphold high standards of food presentation and quality.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by Supervisors to support smooth kitchen operations.

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High school or tertiary qualification in Cookery or Culinary Arts 
  • Minimum 1- 2 years of experience in a commercial kitchen or similar food preparation environment.
  • Good understanding of basic cooking techniques, food handling, and HACCP‑aligned hygiene practices.
  • Ability to follow recipes, maintain consistency in food quality, and work efficiently during busy service times.
  • Strong communication skills, a positive attitude, and the ability to work effectively within a team.
  • Must have legal working rights in Fiji.

This role is islandbased and requires working on a rostered stayonisland schedule.
