Overview:
We are looking for a motivated and dynamic summer intern to learn and assist the Commercial Lines Underwriting department. The intern will work closely with the Underwriting team performing business-focus projects and tasks, propose ideas and contribute ways to grow and improve our strategic goals.
Responsibilities:
- Process pricing analysis for large Commercial Lines policies in preparation for renewals
- Participate in policy renewal meetings and assist in determining adequate pricing based on overall risk performance
- Assist underwriters with gathering information on new business submissions, including reports from Dun and Bradstreet, OSHA, Safety and Fitness Electronic Records System (SAFER), as well as perform google and media searches
- Monitor adverse experience and assigned risk favorable reports to determine if any action needs to be taken
- Participate in weekly Underwriting meetings
- Assist in execution of process improvement initiatives
- Support other ad-hoc projects and tasks as needed
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled as a sophomore in a four-year bachelor’s degree Risk Management & Insurance Program.
- Requires a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
- Experience with MS Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Demonstrate analytical, verbal and communication skills
- Track record of taking initiative and managing multiple competing priorities
- Commutable to our West Trenton, New Jersey office.
The Commercial Lines Underwriting Intern position can pay up to $22 hour.
