Our client, a $1Billion Community Bank is seeking an experienced Commercial Relationship Manager to join its St. Louis, MO commercial banking team. This position will be responsible for developing, managing, and growing a portfolio of commercial banking relationships while generating new business throughout the St. Louis market.
The ideal candidate is an established commercial banker with strong relationships in the market who can independently develop new business, structure and manage commercial credit relationships, and serve as a trusted financial partner to clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop new commercial banking relationships and expand existing relationships throughout the St. Louis market.
- Originate, analyze, structure, negotiate, and close commercial credit opportunities in accordance with the Bank's lending policies and objectives.
- Manage an existing portfolio of commercial relationships while identifying opportunities for additional lending, deposit, and treasury management business.
- Analyze borrower financial statements, creditworthiness, collateral, and overall repayment capacity to determine appropriate credit structures.
- Prepare and compile loan packages and present credit opportunities for approval when appropriate.
- Negotiate loan structures, pricing, repayment terms, fees, and other credit terms with clients.
- Coordinate loan documentation, closing, and funding to ensure transactions are completed accurately and efficiently.
- Partner with Treasury Management to identify and develop commercial deposit and treasury management opportunities.
- Utilize government lending programs when appropriate to meet client credit needs.
- Maintain strong relationships with existing clients and serve as a primary point of contact for their commercial banking needs.
- Monitor portfolio performance and work proactively with clients when credit or repayment issues arise.
- Develop referral relationships with business owners, real estate professionals, accountants, attorneys, and other centers of influence.
- Represent the bank through community involvement, professional associations, industry organizations, and local business groups.
- Maintain a strong understanding of the St. Louis business community and identify opportunities to expand the Bank's presence in the market.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in business, finance, accounting, economics, or a related field preferred.
- Commercial lending experience is highly preferred.
- Approximately 8–10 years of related banking experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge of commercial credit analysis, loan structuring, underwriting, and portfolio management.
- Proven ability to develop new commercial banking relationships and generate business.
- Established relationships and centers of influence within the St. Louis market are strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of financial statements, cash flow analysis, collateral evaluation, and commercial credit risk.
- Ability to independently manage complex commercial banking relationships.
- Strong business development, relationship management, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with senior management, credit administration, treasury management, and other areas of the Bank.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple client relationships and transactions simultaneously.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel locally for client meetings, networking, and business development activities.
