Position Type: Regular - Full-Time
Requisition ID: 44045
In every role, McCainers are ambitious, curious, and passionate about creat ing exceptional work experiences - together . With a customer-first mindset, we make doing business with McCain easy.
About the role .
McCain feeds the world - from the fries in your favorite restaurant to the snacks in your freezer. Behind every commercial decision we make sits a question only data can answer: Where are we winning? Where are we losing? What should we do next? That's the work of this role.
You'll be the analytics partner to our QSR channel team, supporting the largest customer relationships in global foodservice. You'll have access to our syndicated data, and rely on your creativity and skills to source new data. Your dashboards and analyses won't sit on a shelf; they'll shape how we work with customers, set targets, and place bets for the years ahead.
What you'll be doing.
- Sit with QSR sales leads to understand their growth plans, then build the data products (dashboards, deep-dives, scorecards) that let them track and act on those plans week to week.
- Stitch together internal data (Salesforce, SAP, Databricks) with syndicated sources (Datassential, Technomic, Circana/NielsenIQ) to answer questions.
- Design semantic models in Power BI that hold up under real stakeholder use - clean DAX, performant Power Query, and reporting that people genuinely return to.
- Draw on field and customer conversations to bring broader context to the analysis, so the story explains not just what happened but why
- Lead the evaluation and onboarding of new third-party data sources when the existing stack can't answer the question.
- Partner with IT and other Commercial Analytics teams so the solutions you build plug into the broader McCain data ecosystem rather than becoming one-off islands.
- Translate analysis into story - the kind that lands in a customer meeting, not just a quarterly review.
What you'll need to be successful.
- 3+ years in a data analyst, BI developer, or commercial analytics role, working directly with sales, customer, or commercial datasets.
- Power BI at a builder level - you've designed and maintained semantic models that other people depend on, not only consumed dashboards someone else built.
- Strong DAX - comfortable writing time intelligence, iterators, and context-aware measures; can diagnose and fix a slow or incorrect calculation.
- Data modeling fundamentals - star schema, fact/dimension design, handling slowly changing data, and knowing when to push logic upstream vs. into the model.
- Comfort working across multiple source systems (Salesforce, SAP, Databricks) and a bias toward fixing data quality at the source rather than patching it in the visual layer.
- Experience with AI development tools and comfort using GPT tools to write and debug code
- Commercial business acumen - you can translate a stakeholder's vague ask ("we want to understand the customer better") into a concrete analytical plan, and you push back when the data won't support the conclusion they're hoping for.
- Communication and data storytelling - you can present an analysis to non-technical leaders, defend the methodology, and make the "so what" land.
- Bachelor's degree in Business Analytics, Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics, or a related quantitative discipline - or equivalent demonstrated experience.
- Preferred / strong plus
- SQL - can read, write, and validate queries independently (joins, window functions, CTEs). You use it to check whether the data is telling the truth before publishing a report.
- Experience in CPG, retail, or foodservice - especially supporting a QSR, grocery, or large-customer channel.
- Hands-on work with syndicated industry data: Datassential, Technomic, Circana (IRI), NielsenIQ, or similar foodservice panels.
- Working knowledge of Salesforce, SAP (ECC or S/4HANA), and Databricks - or comparable enterprise source systems and lakehouse platforms.
- Experience working in a global or matrixed organization, with comfort navigating multiple stakeholders across regions and functions.
- Exposure to Python or PySpark for data prep and analysis beyond what Power Query handles efficiently.
- Familiarity with version control (Git), Power BI deployment pipelines, or other practices that bring engineering discipline to BI work.
- Knowledge of the UK / European retail or foodservice landscape.
Benefits of the role .
- Real customers, real decisions. You're not building reports for the sake of it. The QSR channel is one of McCain's most strategic, and your work is read by our top leaders.
- Scope to build, not just maintain. This isn't a ticket-queue analyst role. You'll have room to choose tools, propose new data sources, and shape how we measure commercial performance in GB&I and Europe.
- A data team that takes the craft seriously. You'll join a Global Commercial Analytics function that invests in modern tooling (Power BI, Databricks), values clean semantic modeling, and treats analysts as partners to the business - not order-takers.
