About the role.
The Buyer, Freight & Logistics EMENA/GB&I plays a key role in supporting sourcing activities across McCain's Supply Chain operations. This position can be based in Rilland (Netherlands), Amsterdam (Netherlands), or Villeneuve d'Ascq (France) and partners closely with Supply Chain, Operations, Finance, and Procurement stakeholders to develop and execute sourcing strategies that deliver reliable, cost-effective logistics solutions across the EMENA and GB&I regions.
The role is responsible for supplier relationship management, strategic sourcing, contract negotiations, and driving sustainable cost advantages while ensuring operational excellence and supply continuity. Working closely with regional and global stakeholders, the Buyer will help shape category strategies, manage supplier performance, and support business growth through innovative logistics and freight solutions.
What you'll be doing.
- Develop and execute Freight & Logistics category strategies aligned with Supply Chain and business priorities.
- Partner closely with Supply Chain, Operations, Finance, and Procurement teams across GB&I and EMENA to support business needs and future growth.
- Collaborate with regional and global Procurement teams to coordinate sourcing activities, leverage scale, and maximize value.
- Lead end-to-end sourcing events, including RFx processes, supplier evaluations, negotiations, contracting, and award recommendations.
- Build and manage strategic supplier relationships to deliver cost savings, service improvements, innovation, and supply assurance.
- Monitor supplier performance through business reviews and defined KPIs to ensure consistent delivery and service levels.
- Identify and deliver Sustainable Cost Advantage opportunities, including cost, cash, and value creation initiatives.
- Conduct spend, supplier, and market analysis to identify opportunities, risks, benchmarks, and emerging logistics trends.
- Manage and report category performance, including savings, budget performance, PPV, and other procurement KPIs.
- Ensure sourcing activities comply with McCain policies, Health & Safety requirements, and CSR sourcing standards.
What you'll need to be successful.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, Finance, or a related field.
- 1-5 years of relevant experience in procurement, logistics, supply chain, or a related industry.
- Experience supporting sourcing activities, supplier relationship management, and contract negotiations.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience with SAP, Coupa, Ariba, Transportation Management Systems (TMS), or freight procurement software.
- Strong business acumen with the ability to connect organizational needs to external market capabilities.
- Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills with a data-driven approach to decision-making, including spend analysis and total cost of ownership (TCO) methodologies.
- Excellent stakeholder management, influencing, and negotiation skills across a complex organization.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively at all levels, including senior leadership and external partners.
- Ability to work effectively within a matrixed, multicultural, and geographically dispersed environment.
- Fluent English communication skills, both written and verbal.
- French language skills are preferred; Dutch language skills would be considered an asset.
- Demonstrated agility, creativity, resilience, and problem-solving capability.
About the team.
The Buyer, Freight & Logistics EMENA/GB&I is part of the Procurement organization and reports to the Indirect Procurement Director. This role works closely with regional and global Procurement teams as well as key stakeholders across Supply Chain, Operations, Finance, Commercial, and Legal functions.
The position does not have direct or indirect reports but plays a highly collaborative role in supporting strategic sourcing initiatives, driving supplier performance, and enabling business growth across the region.
