As an Engineer Technologist (CNC Programmer) you’ll plan, develop, write, revise, document, test, implement and control programs for computer numerically controlled (CNC) machines and related fixturing. Provides engineering support to the business unit for all aspects of component repair related to development of minor repairs and continuous improvement programs.
What you'll do:
- Plans, develops, writes, revises, documents, tests, implements and controls programs for computer numerically controlled (CNC) machines and related fixturing.
- Prepares machine/process setup and operating instructions.
- Designs and/or manufactures jigs and fixtures from sketches, requirement descriptions or drawings.
- Provides support, training and problem resolution to operations personnel who use computer numerically controlled machines.
- Liaises with engineering regarding component repairs, inspection and induction of new repairs.
- Monitors performance, conducts feasibility studies and implements process improvements for computer numerically controlled machines.
- Prepares technical specifications and cost benefit analysis for procurement of capital equipment. Liaises with management in the procurement process.
- Responsible for observing all applicable safety requirements and reporting immediately any unsafe practices/conditions.
- Carries out special projects as assigned.
What you'll need:
- Minimum 3 years CNC Programmer experience.
- Thorough understanding of repair design and development engineering, manufacturing processes, tool design, fabrication methods and processes.
- Hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment with setup, operation, and programming machines such as: CNC grinder (OD/ID and Vertical Grind Center), CNC lathe (vertical and horizontal), CNC mill, and CNC boring machine.
- Practical experience generating programs with Mastercam.
- Practical experience programming ISO G code and ability to program macros, predominantly Fanuc control.
- Experience with generation and maintenance of 3D models and drawings using Fusion360, Inventor, and other Autodesk CAD software.
- Working knowledge of common aviation and aerospace materials.
- Ability to read, understand and interpret aviation and aerospace blueprints as well as maintenance, repair, and overhaul manuals.
- Ability to generate procedural documentation such as work instructions and setup sheets.
- Ability to troubleshoot challenges with manufacturing equipment in a fast paced environment.
- Capable of identifying and seeking out required standard materials for procurement and implementation of new and revised setups.
- Strong organizational, analytical, oral and written communication skills.
- Working knowledge of related company instructions, company processes, reworks process instructions, original equipment manufacturer manuals and Design Approval Organization manual.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access and Outlook).
- College diploma in manufacturing technology or a related discipline; or equivalent.
- Willing to travel (Other StandardAero facilities, vendor machine training) up to 10%.
- Must be authorized to work in the US.
