The Role
About the role

We’re looking for a CloudOps Engineer who can own our next frontier: hardening and scaling our new GCP footprint while keeping our AWS estate humming. You’ll be the first hire dedicated to GCP, taking a green-field cluster from “dev box” to production-grade, automated, and audited for SOC 2 & HIPAA.

What you’ll do

Immediate priorities (0-6 months)

  • Work with the fall detection team to ensure they have what they need to move fast and build best-in-class software
  • Close high-risk gaps
  • Author reusable Terraform modules for GCP
  • Stand up CI/CD via GitHub Actions + Argo CD (or similar); migrate initial workloads
  • Draft org-policies and audit-log retention needed for compliance
  • Create an automated maintenance plan for our GKE cluster

Short-term goals (Year 1)

  • Complete Phases 2-4 of the production-readiness roadmap (observability, DR run-book, compliance evidence scripts)
  • Deliver <150 ms p95 latency for GCP→AWS event flow
  • Mentor service engineers on GitOps & SRE best practices
  • Contribute patches/improvements to AWS infra as bandwidth allows

Growth opportunities (Beyond Year 1)

  • Lead multi-cloud architectural decisions (GCP + AWS)
  • Influence long-range capacity & DR strategy
  • Potential to grow into Staff Cloud Engineer or Team Lead as we expand
Minimum requirements
  • 3+ years building and operating cloud infrastructure
  • Production experience with Terraform (0.14+) and Terragrunt (or similar wrappers)
  • Deep familiarity with Kubernetes
  • Strong networking fundamentals (VPC design, Cloud NAT, VPN/Interconnect, load-balancers)
  • Experience implementing or supporting compliance frameworks (SOC 2, HIPAA, PCI, etc.)
  • Proficiency in at least one scripting language (Python, Go, or Bash) and GitHub Actions
Preferred qualifications
  • 1+ years experience with GCP or GCP certifications
  • Exposure to Datadog log-sinks, SLO/SLA dashboards, PagerDuty
  • Familiarity with Argo CD, Config Sync, or Flux
  • Experience automating DR drills and writing evidence scripts for auditors
