About this opportunity:
The Cloud Infra Support Engineer ensures the stable, secure, and resilient operation of Ericsson NFVI and CNIS-based cloud infrastructure, including CEE, SDN, SDI, data fabric, storage, and Kubernetes. This senior technical role combines hands-on operations (incident, problem, and change management) with the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of the cloud and network platforms that host 5G and IMS workloads. You will serve as a subject matter expert for CNIS and NFVI, guiding customers and internal teams on best practices, resolving complex issues, and driving infrastructure changes that improve performance, resiliency, and operational efficiency.
What you will do:
- Operate and support Ericsson NFVI and CNIS platforms across production, pre-production, and lab environments, ensuring high availability for 5G/IMS and other VNFs/CNFs.
- Provide deep technical support for CNIS data fabric (compact and scalable), Anycast Gateway, underlay/overlay routing (BGP, EVPN/VXLAN, ECMP), SDN/SDI integration, CEE and Kubernetes clusters, and storage subsystems (block, object, and shared file).
- Lead incident and problem management: own complex incidents end-to-end from triage to root cause analysis and permanent fix, and translate post-incident reviews into infrastructure improvements and runbook updates.
- Contribute to HLD/LLD for NFVI and CNIS deployments, upgrades, expansions, and migrations, ensuring alignment with Ericsson reference architectures.
- Optimise performance and resiliency by analysing capacity, traffic patterns, and failure scenarios, and by implementing routing, fabric, storage, and workload placement tuning against SLAs.
- Plan and execute software upgrades, patching, and hardware refresh, coordinating with product units and customer teams on compatibility and regression testing.
- Develop and maintain automation (Ansible, Python, Terraform) and reusable runbooks for deployment, configuration, validation, and troubleshooting.
- Configure and maintain monitoring, logging, and alerting to proactively detect and resolve issues before they impact services.
- Collaborate with CU, PDU, design, and customer operations teams, providing clear communication to technical and non-technical stakeholders, and mentor junior engineers.
The skills you bring:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Telecommunications, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- 10+ years of hands-on experience in cloud infrastructure and network operations, preferably in telecom or large-scale distributed environments.
- Strong experience with Ericsson NFVI and/or CNIS deployments in live customer or large internal networks.
- Proven track record operating data center fabrics (Clos, spine/leaf, Anycast Gateway), production Kubernetes/CEE environments hosting CNFs, and telco storage platforms.
- IP routing (IPv4/IPv6), BGP, EVPN/VXLAN, ECMP, and Anycast Gateway concepts.
- Data center switches and routers, including multi-VRF, LAG/MC-LAG, and high-availability designs.
- Virtualization (VMware, OpenStack, KVM) and SDN/SDI integration with NFVI/CNIS.
- Kubernetes cluster operations, CNF deployment patterns, ECFE, and storage integration.
- Storage architectures (SAN, NAS, SDS) and IO path troubleshooting.
- Scripting (Python, Bash) and automation (Ansible, Terraform).
- Observability stacks (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, or similar).
