Join Maxis as a Cloud Data Analytics Engineer (GCP) Intern, where you will gain hands-on experience supporting cloud-based data engineering, analytics, and reporting initiatives. This role offers exposure to real-world data pipelines, data warehousing, and analytics solutions on Google Cloud Platform (GCP), while working closely with data engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders to deliver reliable and scalable data solutions in a dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities1. Data Ingestion & Pipeline Development
Develop and maintain cloud-based data pipelines using Google Dataflow for data ingestion.
Support ingestion of data into raw and processed layers to enable downstream analytics and reporting.
2. ETL / ELT & Data Warehousing
Design and implement ETL/ELT processes across Zone 1 (Raw), Zone 2 (Processed), and data warehouse layers.
Support foundational data warehouse setup and optimisation for analytics use cases.
3. Data Storage, Analytics & Visualisation
Work with BigQuery and other GCP-native tools for data storage and analytics.
Build, enhance, and maintain Power BI dashboards for business data visualisation and reporting.
Support validation of data accuracy and consistency across reports.
4. Collaboration & Stakeholder Support
Collaborate with data engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders to gather reporting requirements.
Ensure data accessibility, reliability, and alignment with business needs.
5. Monitoring, Optimisation & Governance
Monitor and optimise data workflows for performance and cost efficiency.
Support data governance, quality checks, and security best practices across data pipelines.
The intern will have the opportunity to contribute to an ongoing data transformation programme, supporting initiatives such as:
Development of new analytics and reporting solutions
Foundational setup of data warehouse layers
Enhancement of data pipelines and reporting structures
This exposure provides hands-on experience in enterprise-scale cloud data engineering and analytics transformation.
Preferred Skills / QualificationsCurrently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
Strong SQL skills with understanding of data modelling concepts.
Background in development and exposure to big data technologies.
Knowledge of Python or Java for data processing tasks.
Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) tools such as BigQuery or Dataflow is an advantage.
Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments is preferred.
Analytical, detail-oriented, and able to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
Gain hands-on experience in cloud data engineering and analytics.
Work with modern GCP tools and enterprise data platforms.
Learn how data pipelines and analytics support business decision-making.
Build a strong foundation for a career in data engineering, analytics, or cloud technologies.
