You will join the dedicated R&D teams in Cambridge that create and improve the products behind the company’s rapid growth. Our software engineers work on a wide variety of projects and with a diverse toolset. As an engineer within the Cloud Innovations team, you will be focused on looking for innovative ways to secure and understand cloud environments.

This role requires both a deep understanding cloud principles and strong python skills to bring these solutions to life. 

This is a hybrid role, and the expectation would be to work at least 2 days a week in the Cambridge office.

As an engineer within the Cloud Innovations team, your role will be responsible for, but not limited to:

  • Rapid prototyping of new and innovative ideas to further improve Darktrace’s services and offerings on existing products,
  • Building and maintaining greenfield services,
  • Researching and implementing features that align with the Cloud Security product feature set,
  • Investigating and furthering our unique methodology in defending against unknown cyber-attacks,

Innovation is of paramount importance and as such, creativity in approach is encouraged as much as traditional project-based development.

Candidate requirements:

We welcome applications from engineers who have a solution focused mindset combined with an analytical approach and problem-solving skills. During the interview process you’ll be able to demonstrate your ability to program using Python and will show an understanding of writing code in a production environment. Additionally, it’s likely that you’ll be:

  • Comfortable working autonomously and taking independent decisions as well as having the ability to work cooperatively within a team,
  • Experience working with microservice architectures,
  • Strong understanding of cloud native landscapes (AWS or Azure or GCP)
  • An understanding of Infrastructure as code (e.g. Terraform)
  • Familiar with CI/CD pipelines,
  • Knowledgeable about cloud computing environments would be beneficial.

Experience of working with a range of other programming languages such as React.JS would also be beneficial but isn’t essential.
