Position Summary

  • The Nurse Clinical Manager II has professional responsibility to the Unit Director and the Chief Nursing officer and is an integral member of the Nursing Leadership Team. The Nurse Clinical Manager manages the overall operations of a Patient Care Unit. This is to ensure cost-effective use of human and material resources in delivering Excellent Care Always.
  • The Nurse Clinical Manager ensures that the nursing process and theories, as well as principles of psycho-social and physical sciences, in assessing, planning, diagnosing, implementing, evaluating, and modifying patient care utilize evidence based practices. The Nurse Clinical Manager practices autonomously within professional nursing standards, the ANA Code of Ethics and the ANA Bill of Rights.
  • The Nurse Clinical Manager ensures quality outcomes and innovative practice in accordance with the Florida Nursing Practice Act and the Hospital/departmental policies. The Nurse Clinical Manager ensures clinical practice is in accordance with competency required for that area. This position is accountable for the quality of nursing services delivered by self and or others who are under her/his direction. This is done through participation in quality assurance or performance improvement initiatives. The Nurse Clinical Manager provides care in a collaborative manner with other disciplines to ensure optimal, individualized patient care and outcomes. In managing patient care the Clinical Nurse Manager will encourage RNs will take a leadership role coordinating the interdisciplinary team working in collaboration with other health team members to enhance patient outcomes .
  • Effectively uses and role models current leadership techniques and theories, encouraging the decision-making skills of staff members and providing insight and leadership in complex situations.
  • Ensures that information disseminated to staff is monitored for effectiveness and changed as needed.
  • Understands and enforces hospital and personnel policies and procedures.
  • Serve on hospital and Patient Care Services committees, teams, and work groups as requested.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements

This job can be physically demanding at times requiring stooping, sitting, standing, and walking for long periods of time.  The team member will need to frequently assist lifting patients and heavy equipment. Must be able to work in a stressful environment, work independently, and be capable of critical thinking, making sound decisions, detail oriented, alert and self-motivated. Ability to push/pull up to 40lbs., carry and lift up to 50lbs.

  • These threshold requirements are required and completed yearly basis
    • Annual Joint Commission mandatory education requirements, in-service and health requirements including attendance at new employee orientation
    • TB/PPD Surveillance Program
    • Maintenance of required professional licensing and/or certification(s).

Skills Required

  • Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing with a BSN
  • Current Florida RN licensure
  • AHA certification applicable to the assigned area
  • Recent CVICU experience
  • Recent leadership experience
