Position Summary

The Clinical Applications Specialist supports the collection, management, analysis, and utilization of healthcare data to improve patient care, operational efficiency, and regulatory compliance. This role serves as a bridge between clinical staff and information technology teams, ensuring that electronic health record (EHR) systems and other data platforms are optimized for accurate reporting, workflow efficiency, and quality improvement initiatives.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the implementation, maintenance, and optimization of Electronic Health Records (EHR) and other clinical information systems.
  • Collect, manage, and analyze healthcare data to support clinical, administrative, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Generate and review reports, dashboards, and analytics to support operational decision-making.
  • Collaborate with clinical staff to ensure proper documentation standards and data integrity within EHR systems.
  • Assist in the development and training of staff on information systems, workflows, and data entry best practices.
  • Support regulatory reporting, compliance audits, and accreditation activities by ensuring data accuracy and accessibility.
  • Identify system or workflow issues and recommend solutions to improve efficiency, accuracy, and patient care.
  • Maintain confidentiality and security of patient information in compliance with HIPAA and organizational policies.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, including monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs) and outcomes.
  • Serve as a liaison between clinical, administrative, and IT teams to facilitate system updates and project implementation.

  • Maintains competency and knowledge of current standards of practice, trends, and developments related to the scope of the role.
  • Adheres to infection control policies and protocols, medication administration and storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations, as applicable.
  • Participates in ongoing quality improvement activities.
  • Completes required orientation and training as directed by the facility.
  • Follows facility policies, OSHA safety rules, and procedures while on assignment.
  • Follows facility and CFG Health Systems Occurrence Protocol.
  • Upholds HIPAA and PREA regulations.
  • Demonstrates punctuality and dependability for assigned and confirmed shifts.
  • Maintains required security clearance for the assigned facility.
Qualifications

    Position requirements

    Education

    • Bachelor’s degree in Health Informatics, Health Information Management, Healthcare Administration, Information Technology, or related field required.
    • Master’s degree preferred.
    • Current active LPN or RN License

    Experience

    • Minimum of 2–4 years of experience in health informatics, EHR management, or healthcare data analytics.
    • Experience with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems, reporting tools, and healthcare data standards required.
    • Experience in healthcare, behavioral health, or correctional health preferred.

    Skills & Competencies

    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Proficiency in EHR platforms, reporting tools, and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
    • Knowledge of healthcare data standards, HIPAA, and regulatory requirements.
    • Excellent communication, collaboration, and training skills.
    • Attention to detail and ability to maintain data accuracy and confidentiality.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team.

    Skills Required

    • Bachelor's degree in Health Informatics, Health Information Management, Healthcare Administration, Information Technology, or a related field

    • Experience with EHR systems, reporting tools, and healthcare data standards
