Summary:
This position is responsible for Leading the day-to-day process of new product development at the direction of the Line of Business (LOB) leaders. Monitor product(s) from inception through maturity. Supports, facilitates and resolves barriers for IT applications development. Coordinates requirements and implementation with supporting business leads.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Strategy/Research
- Work with Commercial Lines Product LOB Leader(s) to execute company strategies.
- Demonstrate awareness of each state’s regulatory environment, legislative rules, aggregate customers wants, needs and changing industry delivery of products and service.
- Track progress against target dates and identify any deficiencies or deviations.
- Design/Prototype
- Support team by providing Product and Underwriting knowledge in decision-making, informing team of business decisions that will impact development and establishing efficient and effective product design and features including the development of downstream data reporting that meet customer and organizational demands.
- Development
- Actively participate and represent the product in the agile product(s) development process including both high level business requirement writing and detailed system requirement writing along with support of detailed system testing.
- Define business requirements and road maps for country-wide product and versions implemented by each state. Additionally, support any necessary state filings.
- Execute the strategy by setting priorities of assignments for the IT Team(s).
- Identify issues that block or hinder progress. Surface the appropriate issues to Product Development LOB Leader for resolution.
- Collaborate with IT, Agency Interface and Underwriting in delivering and maintaining a market-leading efficient and accurate quoting and business submission platform.
- Rollout
- Collaborate with Sales, Marketing and the Product Managers in product roll-outs.
- Produce countrywide documents, templates, training materials.
- Communicate with business leaders on the progress, issues and developments of the CL Products.
- Review
- Communicate with business leaders on the progress, issues and developments of the CL products.
- Perform product analysis to provide clarity of desired results through various reports and creating/maintaining requirements of dashboard reporting from Business Intelligence Unit.
- Lead and maintain best practices with CI (Continuous Improvement) over product lifecycle.
What You’ll Bring To The Company:
- Bachelor’s degree with advanced degree and/or professional designation (e.g. CPCU) or comparable experience preferred. Field of study in Risk Management, Math, Statistics, Actuarial Science, Economics, or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years Commercial Lines experience (preferably underwriting, product and/or systems).
- Must have knowledge of industry trends, state regulations, and compliance processes. Must be able to demonstrate analytical and strategic ability.
- Must possess interpersonal communication skills and be comfortable working in a matrix environment.
- Must be able to manage ambiguity when making decisions and possess the ability to convey complex technical issues in an easy-to-understand format.
- Experience working in an iterative development environment with a functional knowledge of Agile methods and tools a plus.
