Level 2: Under the direction of and reporting to the Continuous Improvement Manager, the Continuous Improvement Specialist will teach and mentor New Member, CI Specialists, Woodward's general Membership on the principles of Lean manufacturing. The CI Specialist II will partner with Process Owners and Champions to facilitate training and improvement workshops using Lean methodologies.Level 3: The Continuous Improvement Lean/Six Sigma Expert will partner with the Process Owners and Champions to drive results in the organization utilizing LEAN principles. The CI Expert will assist in project identification/selection, assuring linkage between projects, business and customer priorities. The CI Expert will mentor, coach and develop CI Specialists, Leaders & and Woodward's general membership assigned to projects related to Lean & Transformation efforts.What You Will Be Doing Level 2:- Work with members of the organization (including customers and suppliers) to identify and implement process improvements using Lean and Kaizen methodologies.
- Lead and/or facilitate workshops, projects and project reviews for Woodward members.
- Coordinate and lead process improvement training for Woodward members and suppliers.
- Track and report project results to leadership team as appropriate.
- Interface cross-functionally with internal members and/or external clients.
- Assist in leveraging improvements to other programs and business units as requested.
- Develop and maintain best practices. Share and communicate the best practices throughout the organization with written and verbal communications.
- Assist in maintaining and enhancing the Six Sigma tools that will provide a process improvement knowledge library to the Global Woodward membership.
- Lead multiple process improvement teams utilizing Lean methodologies resulting in improved Quality, Delivery, Responsiveness, or Cost.
- Mentor and assist the leadership team to drive cultural change that embraces CI as the means to achieve SQDC improvement.
- Mentor CI Specialists, Leaders & Members in Lean/Six Sigma projects and lead and/or facilitate workshops, projects and project reviews for Woodward members and stakeholders.
- Train, coach and mentor Continuous Improvement throughout the organization in order to embed a CI culture.
- Develop and Maintain Woodward's core Lean tools that will provide process improvement knowledge to the site membership.
- Problem Solving using scientific methods. Coaching and facilitating teams through the plan, do, check, act (PDCA) process of making improvement using A3 and lean methodologies
- Standardized work development by assisting teams in developing future state processes, and documenting existing processes
- Facilitating value stream mapping workshops, and managing kaizen task completion
- Training and coaching members on lean methodologies
- Collaborating with cross functional teams on lean manufacturing implementation
- Develop and maintain best practices. Share and communicate the best practices throughout the organization with written and verbal communications.
- Bachelor’s degree in arts/sciences (BA/BS) in a related field or equivalent technical degree required.
- Minimum three years exposure to manufacturing and quality business processes (transactional or operational) required.
- Minimum 3 years process improvement experience (Six Sigma, Lean, Kaizen) with demonstrated track record of results required.
- Experience with statistical software (SPC, XL, Minitab or equivalent).
- Additional process improvement training (Six Sigma, Lean, Kaizen) preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge and application of Six Sigma, Lean and Kaizen methodologies to identify and implement process improvements
- Technical competency in Lean Six-Sigma skills: DMAIC, BTO, Lean, Kaizen, project management techniques.
- Demonstrated creative problem-solving skills, conflict resolution skills, excellent oral and written communication skills (including listening skills) and consistent attention to detail.
- Ability to plan and manage workshops, projects and training sessions effectively.
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams in workshops, projects and effectively speak before groups.
- Demonstrated knowledge of data collection, metrics and the use of performance targets in tracking process improvements.
- Bachelor’s degree in arts/sciences (BA/BS) in a related field or equivalent technical degree required.
- Minimum 5 years exposure to manufacturing and quality business processes (transactional or operational) required.
- Minimum 5 years Process improvement experience (Six Sigma, Lean, Kaizen) in transactional and operational processes with demonstrated track record of results required.
- Advanced knowledge of Six Sigma statistical software required (SPC, XL, Minitab or equivalent).
- Six Sigma Black belt preferred.
- Additional process improvement training (Lean Enterprise Institute, Six Sigma Champions training) required.
- Experience with coaching multiple value stream transformations
