The Group: Morningstar's Research group provides independent analysis on individual securities, funds, markets, and portfolios. The Research group also provides data on hundreds of thousands of investment offerings, including stocks, mutual funds, and similar vehicles, along with real-time global market data on millions of equities, indexes, futures, options, commodities, and precious metals, in addition to foreign exchange and Treasury markets. The Role: The Associate Analyst role on US manager research fixed income team is an introductory position oriented toward becoming a subject matter expert in fixed income strategy analysis while producing high-quality strategy-level analysis and broader asset class research that helps investors make better decisions. This role also serves the team through covering select asset management firms as a parent lead. This position will be required to be in office four days a week in our Chicago office.
Responsibilities:
- Become conversant in the world of fixed income investing through a combination of formal and informal training, mentorship, self-study, and working towards covering between 30 and 40 fixed income strategies
- Strive toward specialization in one or more bond sectors alongside pursuing general fixed income subject matter expertise
- Be part a collaborative team culture that aims for and prizes high-quality research, resulting in analyses that are insightful, ratings that are good calls for investors, and broader research that helps investors understand the fixed income managed products landscape
- Engage with the external market (media, wealth managers, regulators) to strengthen understanding of Morningstar capabilities
- Contribute to thought leadership and/or the development of analytical tools (such as through Jupyter notebooks) that improve fixed income strategy analysis.
Requirements:
- A bachelor's degree is required; an MBA, CFA, CFP or other advanced degree/accreditation a plus
- Fixed income subject matter expertise is a plus
- Excellent communications skills
- Strong time management skills
- Familiarity with programming languages (i.e. Python, R, MATLAB) is a plus

$70,825.00-103,891.66
