The Childcare Director for San Jose Women’s Programs is a key member of our staff. We are seeking an experienced and passionate Childcare Director to oversee the daily operations of our childcare facility. The Childcare Director will be responsible for ensuring a safe, nurturing, and educational environment for children while managing a safe, engaging with parents, and adhering to licensing regulations. Our ideal candidate will be passionate about God’s transformational love, function well under pressure, and handle conflict and difficult situations with grace. In our ministry, no two days are ever the same, so we are looking for someone who can picot quickly and deal with surprises and unexpected twists in a Christ-like manner. 

The Childcare Director is a full-time exempt position wrapped up in a Christian environment that values Teamwork, Accountability, Humility, Innovation, and Joy. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Responsibilities:

  1. Provide leadership to staff, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
  2. Train and supervise teachers and aids working in the childcare center 
  3. Manage program data collection, fee collection, and reporting.
  4. Design and implement age-appropriate curriculum and activities.
  5. Ensure that programs meet the developmental needs of children 
  6. Stay current with state licensing requirements and ensure the facility is compliant with all regulations.
  7. Prepare for and participate in inspections and audits by regulatory agencies 
  8. Organize parent meetings and community events to promote involvement 
  9. Manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks and intelligently delegate.
  10. Ensure appropriate billing and collection processes are in place 
  11. Other duties and special projects as assigned.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception

Required Education and Experience

  • Must hold a Site Supervisor Permit from the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing 
  • Minimum of 24+ EDE/CD units
  1. At least infant/toddler units
  2. 6+ units in administration/supervision
  • Minimum 5-years’ relevant experience working with children.
  • Good interpersonal skills, with proven ability to communicate with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Good written communication skills, experience writing reports and or policies and computer literate with proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Pediatric CPR and First Aid certification 
  • Mandated Reporter Training
  • Valid CA Driver’s License with a clean record

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Bilingual language skills (English/Spanish/Vietnamese/Cambodian)

Work Conditions

  • This job operates in a professional office environment and residential apartment setting
  • This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines
  • The exact hours will vary depending on program scheduling needs.
  • Travel is primarily local during the business day.

  • Must have an intimate, personal relationship with Jesus Christ 
  • Must be active in a local Christian body of believers or at least pursuing community with other Christ-followers
  • Must have compatible theology on major issues of CityTeam's Statement of Faith
  • Must be committed to serving God and the body of Christ
