Chief Technology Officer is the senior executive responsible for leading the company’s technology vision, innovation, and execution. In a social media company, plays a pivotal role in designing and maintaining a scalable, secure, and user-friendly platform, while driving innovation to keep the business competitive in a rapidly changing digital ecosystem. The ideal candidate combines deep technical expertise with strong leadership and strategic thinking, ensuring that technology solutions align with business goals and user needs.


This is a hybrid role based in Ghana

Duties

  • Define and implement the company’s long-term technology roadmap.
  • Anticipate digital trends and integrate emerging technologies (AI, AR/VR, blockchain, etc.) into the platform.
  • Align technology strategies with overall business and product goals.
  • Oversee the design, development, and maintenance of the social media platform.
  • Ensure a seamless user experience across mobile, web, and emerging digital channels.
  • Lead the implementation of algorithms for personalized content, engagement, and advertising.
  • Oversee data architecture, storage, and analytics to support decision-making.
  • Ensure compliance with cybersecurity standards and data privacy laws (e.g., GDPR, NDPR, CCPA).
  • Develop policies for secure data handling, encryption, and fraud prevention.
  • Lead and mentor engineering, product development, and IT teams.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and agile development.
  • Collaborate with the Chief Product Officer, CMO, and CFO to integrate technical capabilities into business operations.
  • Ensure platform scalability to handle rapid growth in users, content, and engagement.
  • Optimize system performance, uptime, and reliability.
  • Manage cloud infrastructure, APIs, and third-party integrations.
  • Stay ahead of industry shifts in AI-driven content, video streaming, live interactions, and e-commerce features.
  • Develop proprietary technologies that give the platform a unique competitive advantage.
  • Encourage R&D and experimentation within the tech team.


Requirements

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or related field.
  • A master’s degree (MBA, MSc in Technology, or related specialization) is an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 5–7 years in software development and technology leadership roles.
  • Proven experience in building and scaling large-scale digital or social platforms.
  • Strong background in algorithms, data analytics, cloud computing, and cybersecurity.
  • Expertise in programming, system architecture, and product development.
  • Strong leadership and team-building skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making abilities.
  • Familiarity with agile methodologies and DevOps practices.
  • Ability to balance innovation with operational stability.


Skills Required
