Purpose
This is an executive Finance position responsible for directing and coordinating the activities of the Finance Department - by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate management. Interaction with other departments within the duties of this position. Areas of responsibility include Forecasting, Planning, Financial Close, Controls, AR, AP, Treasury, Payroll, IT, Inventory Control and Customer Profitability.
Responsibilities
- Risk management through enforcement and monitoring of internal controls
Compliance with all local regulations and established company financial policies and procedures
Identify, through consultation with the President, the key actions necessary to achieve the financial plan
Conduct monthly business reviews for market; analyze results of operations / explain key drivers and variances to planned and forecasted results. Provide specific analysis as to the key drivers of expenses and the key drivers as to variances to last year and to plan
Manage the site of Finance Managers, Compliance Inventory Control, Profit Management, Information Technology, Payroll, Accounting team, and any other direct reports – to achieve goals; and train staff for advancement
Evaluate the financial impact of plans and processes to achieve goals, assist other departments in their goals and processes, measure customer profitability and asset investments, and perform key analyses, etc.
Develop the annual profit plan (budget) in conjunction with the senior management team and Enterprise objective.
Prepare a rolling 3-year long range plan that is refreshed on an annual basis
Develop accurate 18-month rolling financial forecasts each month with projections for volume, margins and expenses; considering both macro-economic factors as well as local implications
Make recommendations to management to improve profitability
Identify opportunities to control costs and reduce expenses
May participate in shrink committee, credit committee, and other initiatives
Work with each department to ensure they understand the overall forecast and how the impact of the key initiatives (they are responsible for) are reflected in the for
Individual must champion and be the local expert in Sysco’s analytical toolbox
Skills
- Solid analytical, problem-solving skills; including familiarity with analyzing reports and deriving insights from data
- Strong understanding of distribution economics, pricing strategies, and supplier contracts
- Strong understanding of Supply Chain field, and cost-to-serve metrics
- Ability to express information in terms of profit and loss, food cost expense ratio, etc.
- Strong financial acumen and ability to properly plan and execute business plans

Preferred Qualifications:
MBA/CPA preferred
Prior managerial experience preferred
Certifications
Education
Master’s degree in related discipline or a Bachelor’s degree in a related field and an additional 3 years of experience in lieu of Master’s degree
Experience
- A minimum of six years in a CFO or Director of Finance position preferred
- Foodservice experience preferred
