We are seeking a strategic Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) to lead commercial operations and drive sustainable revenue growth. This role requires a strong background in manufacturing, with deep expertise in managing sales, distribution, and market expansion within a structured or PLC environment.


The ideal candidate will be a commercially astute leader with a proven ability to scale businesses, optimize go-to-market strategies, and build high performing teams.



Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive commercial strategy to drive revenue growth and profitability
  • Lead and manage sales, marketing, and distribution teams across multiple regions
  • Build and nurture strategic partnerships with distributors, retailers, key accounts, and external stakeholders.  
  • Negotiate and manage high-value contracts, alliances, and joint ventures to expand business reach.  
  • Drive collaboration with e-commerce platforms, modern trade, and traditional trade channels to maximize growth.  
  • Oversee national and regional sales operations, ensuring strong execution of sales and distribution strategies.  
  • Optimize pricing, promotions, and channel strategies to drive volume and profitability.  
  • Lead key account management and ensure strong relationships with top customers.  
  • Strengthen and expand distribution networks, including dealers, retailers, and key accounts
  • Identify new market opportunities and drive penetration across B2B and B2C segments
  • Oversee pricing strategies, product positioning, and brand visibility in competitive markets
  • Monitor market trends, customer preferences, and competitor activities to inform decision-making
  • Collaborate with production and supply chain teams to ensure alignment between demand and supply
  • Drive performance metrics, sales forecasting, and reporting across all commercial functions
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing commercial team across sales, trade marketing, and business development.
  • Set and track KPIs for growth, sales, and partnerships.  
  • Provide regular performance reports and insights to the executive team.  
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and ethical standards.  


Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Economics, or related field (MBA or advanced degree preferred).
  • 15–20 years experience, with a minimum of 10 years in executive commercial leadership roles within manufacturing or PLC environments.
  • Demonstrated ownership of large-scale commercial operations, including multi-billion naira revenue portfolios and full P&L accountability.
  • Strong experience driving market penetration and brand dominance in highly competitive, price-sensitive markets.
  • Strong understanding of value chain, distribution networks, and retail landscapes (traditional trade, modern trade, e-commerce).  
  • Proven track  record of leading business transformation or turnaround initiatives, including entering new markets or restructuring commercial functions.
  • Deep expertise in pricing strategy, margin optimization, and revenue growth management.
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to link market insights to executable growth strategies.
  • Exceptional negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Skills Required
