Position Summary

The Senior Cellar Operator is responsible for all day-to-day wine production and is proficient in all cellar duties and cellar equipment with minimal supervision. The position follows standard work methods and practices that create safe work habits to ensure production is as efficient and safe as possible.

Responsibilities

  • Under minimal supervision: Perform Cellar I & Cellar II tasks: Clean & sanitize equipment, apply good housekeeping practices, perform wine movements, top barrels, make additions to wine, operate complex equipment, measure, and calculate workplace data.

  • Perform complex cellar and barrel tasks including but not limited to wine movement, blend assembly, wine/juice additions per Winemaker instructions, etc.

  • Operate complex equipment but not limited to lees filter, cross flow filter, press, etc.

  • Provide feedback to Winemaking, Cellar, and Barrel staff on best practices.

  • Lead and mentor teams, train, and mentor temporary employees, and assist in creating SOPs and training documents.

  • Understand and be a leader in the 5S program (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain) and in the safety hazard identification program

  • Responsible for compliance with CBI sustainability policies and practices which are economically viable, socially acceptable, and environmentally sound. This is done by supporting programs at each location for conservation, energy efficiency, and recycling. This is critical for our operations to achieve tangible environmental results.

  • Being a role model for safe operating procedures that support safety programs and policies to safeguard personal safety, company property, environmental safety, and team member’s safety.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/ GED or equivalent education and experience

  • Minimum of 5 years Cellar Operator experience

  • Forklift certified

  • Must be able to skillfully operate all basic and complex cellar equipment/machinery

  • Must be able to work various shifts and overtime as needed

  • Must know how to use hand tools

  • Must possess basic math skills

  • Must be able to use meters and scales

Preferred Qualifications

  • Basic Computer Skills and knowledge of computer applications (Typing, Microsoft Suite, Barrel Scanners etc.)

Physical Requirements/Work Environment

Work Environment:

  • Works outdoors/indoors

  • Works in warm/cold climates

  • Works on wet surfaces

  • Works at height (Ladders and Catwalks)

  • Is exposed to loud noise, fumes and/or toxic chemicals -Works near moving, mechanical parts and lift truck traffic

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to stand, walk or sit for extended periods of time.

  • Must be able to move up to 55 lbs

  • Use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms

  • Climb or balance stairs/ladders

  • Stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk and hear

  • Must be able to work irregular shifts, and long hours may be required, particularly during harvest

The salary range for this role is:

$25.99 - $39.80

This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting.  Our compensation is based on cost of labor. For remote locations or positions open to multiple locations, the pay range may reflect several US geographic markets, including the lowest geographic market minimum to the highest geographic market maximum. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. An employee’s pay position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, the prevailing minimum wage for the location, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, any collective bargaining agreements, and business or organizational needs.  At Constellation Brands, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at the high end of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each position and candidate.
