Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) is seeking professional, innovative, and detail-oriented individuals to join our team as a Buyer. As a Buyer a typical day might include the following:  

• Adhering to purchasing policies and practices to ensure highest quality, appropriate inventory levels, timely delivery, and competitive cost from suppliers.

• Executing strategic sourcing plans to support company objectives.

• Identifying and mitigating risks to the SEL supply chain; including market trends, capacity constraints, commodity risks, and business conditions for manufacturers and suppliers.

• Creating and improving supplier partnerships by identifying areas for improvement, escalating issues to management and executing corrective action plans in accordance with World Class Manufacturing principles.

• Demonstrating business professionalism, purchasing fundamentals, time management, data analytics, supply chain management, supplier development, cost reduction strategy development and negotiation techniques.

• Supporting US Panels on open projects by managing the supply chain and providing guidance on the part selection process and strategic supply partners.  

This job might be for you if: 

• You hold a Bachelor’s degree or higher in business, operations, or supply chain; or a combination of relevant education and experience.

• You have intermediate skills in Microsoft Excel.

• You are familiar working with MRP/ERP systems.

• You have strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills.

Pay Range

Buyer I $26.70 - $34.28 per hour. Buyer II $29.77 - $38.37 per hour. We base our starting pay on location and job-related factors such as candidate experience, training, knowledge, and skills. Salary ranges are determined by job, responsibility, and location.
