Position Details:
The Business Systems Engineer is a hands-on functional team member who assists to develop and test software solutions to help Grainger grow as a business. This position is ideal for someone who wants to learn and is passionate about software development and testing, is interested in being a part of a great development culture, and who wants to create solutions that are going to help our customers. While this role starts with being responsible for testing of solutions in the EWM and SAP WM spaces, it will grow and evolve as you learn and as business demands shift, so we are looking for individuals that can be versatile and are willing to take on challenging work as we continue to find creative ways to solve issues for our customers.
You Will:

  • Use your knowledge to improve and transform complex concepts into clean, simple test cases that lower risks for production deployments.
  • Write well-documented and maintainable test cases, configuration documents, and process flows.
  • Investigate and resolve application issues, bottlenecks and inefficiencies using our DevOps tools.
  • Conduct and evaluate the results of unit and integration tests.
  • Conduct and participate in refinement sessions that span multiple languages and applications.
  • Support production deployments during go live.
  • Participate with team to provide a collaborative work environment.
  • Find opportunities to improve your team, and work with other peer groups to guide consistency.
  • Develop prototypes and POCs to demonstrate new ideas or illustrate the use of new technologies.
  • Participate in Agile Ceremonies to provide feedback and communicate issues/blockers and communicate project status.


You Have:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or a degree in a comparable field or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with Distribution Center/Warehouse Operations and functions.
  • Experience working in SAP ECC, SAP WM, and SAP EWM
  • Experience working in SAP GTS is a plus.
  • We ask that you understand user operation and how individual tasks fit into an overall process.
  • We require maintaining a constantly updated skill set in new technologies and programming techniques.
  • Team player, ability to work with Grainger technical and business contacts.
  • Identify and meet our needs using technology.
  • Working knowledge of Jira or the Agile Methodology
