Kolomoni Microfinance Institution (Gambia) is a CBG-licensed microfinance institution serving customers across The Gambia. We are recruiting Business Relationship Officers to grow our merchant and MSME business.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Map and prospect formal and informal businesses in your assigned markets and sectors.
- Explain Kolomoni business propositions accurately and convert eligible prospects.
- Collect complete KYB documentation and support compliant onboarding without bypassing controls.
- Make sure new businesses fund their accounts, transact, and keep transacting.
- Mobilise deposits and deepen relationships through suitable payment, savings and operating propositions.
- Source evidence-based POS placement opportunities and submit finance-ready leads to Credit.
- Maintain accurate pipeline, visit and portfolio records, and escalate suspicious behaviour and early credit warning signals.
Requirements
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- Two or more years in relationship sales, SME engagement, banking, mobile money, payments, FMCG distribution or merchant acquisition.
- A record of acquiring customers who then transact — not just accounts opened.
- Working knowledge of SME needs, business accounts, payments, POS, deposits, and KYB and AML basics.
- A diploma, HND or degree in business, banking, finance, marketing or a related discipline. Equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
- Documentation discipline, local-language communication and the judgement to decline business that will not perform.
Skills Required
- At least two years of experience in relationship sales, SME engagement, banking, mobile money, payments, FMCG distribution, or merchant acquisition.
- Demonstrated ability to acquire customers who subsequently fund and transact, not merely open accounts.
- Working knowledge of SME needs, business accounts, payments, POS, deposits, KYB, and AML fundamentals.
- Diploma, HND, or degree in business, banking, finance, marketing, or a related discipline; equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
- Strong documentation discipline, local-language communication skills, and judgment to decline unsuitable business.
