Who You Are
The Business Operations & Data Automation Specialist supports the Paint Shop (PSH) organization by developing automated reporting tools, dashboards, and data-driven solutions that improve operational efficiency and enable informed decision-making. This role focuses on transforming manual processes into streamlined digital workflows while providing ad hoc analysis and reporting to engineering, project management, and operations team.
How It’s Done
Data Analysis & Decision Support
- Perform data analysis on production, alarm, vision, financial, and operational datasets to support engineering and project teams
- Identify trends, inconsistencies, and outliers in data, and provide actionable insights to improve process performance
- Develop analytical outputs that enable data-driven decision-making
Reporting & Dashboard Development
- Design, develop, and maintain dashboards and reporting tools based on schedules, financial data, and production processes
- Create scalable, user-friendly reporting solutions that improve visibility into project status and operational performance
- Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and usability across reporting platforms
Process Automation & Tool Development
- Develop automated solutions using Excel (VBA), Power Automate, Microsoft Project, Microsoft Forms, and other tools to reduce manual effort
- Build dynamic Excel workbooks and macros to streamline workflows and improve team productivity
- Convert repetitive processes into automated solutions with measurable efficiency gains
- Continuously identify opportunities to improve efficiency through automation
Statistical Analysis & Process Optimization
- Apply statistical methods to evaluate process performance, including identifying variability, trends, and outliers
- Design and execute Design of Experiments (DOE) to optimize process parameters and improve system performance
- Develop data validation and error-detection logic to flag abnormal conditions and prevent process issues
- Recommend process adjustments and control strategies based on analytical findings
Digital Systems & SharePoint Management
- Maintain and enhance SharePoint sites to improve accessibility and organization of team information
- Develop digital tools and forms to track processes, collect data, and support operational workflows
- Support the transition from manual to digital systems (e.g., digital verification processes)
Process Improvement & Initiatives
- Lead and support initiatives aimed at improving operational efficiency and reporting capabilities
- Develop KPI dashboards and tracking tools to monitor performance
- Standardize tools and reporting structures across teams where appropriate
- Collaborate with engineering, project management, and other divisional stakeholders
Documentation & Training
- Create training materials and documentation for internally developed tools and systems
- Provide user support to ensure adoption and effective use of reporting and automation tools
What You Need
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Data Analytics, or related field, or equivalent experience
- Strong experience with Microsoft Excel, including advanced formulas and VBA/macros
- Experience with various scheduling and organizational tools such as Power Automate, SharePoint, Microsoft Project, or Microsoft Forms
- Experience in data analysis, reporting, and process automation
What Would Be Even Better
- Experience in industrial automation or manufacturing environments (automotive preferred)
- Experience developing dashboards (Power BI, Excel-based dashboards, etc.)
- Experience supporting engineering and multi-role project-based teams
- Background in statistics, data analysis, or process optimization
- Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification (or equivalent experience applying statistical methods in process improvement)
