The Crown Is Yours
As a Business Operations Intern, Third-Party Data & Automation, you'll play a hands-on role in building a reliable source of truth for third-party supplier data. You'll partner closely with our Business Operations team and cross-functional stakeholders to clean, validate, and enrich vendor records while exploring how automation and artificial intelligence can reduce manual work. Over the summer, you'll focus on a high-impact vendor master data cleanup initiative and help prototype scalable workflows that turn messy, unstructured information into trusted, usable data. This role offers meaningful ownership, exposure to real-world business systems, and the opportunity to apply emerging technology to core operational challenges.
What you'll do as a Business Operations Intern, Third-Party Data & Automation
- Clean and improve supplier records by updating key fields to ensure vendor data is accurate, complete, and ready for business use.
- Identify, analyze, and resolve duplicate supplier records, including parent and subsidiary relationships, while maintaining a clear decision log.
- Validate supplier status as active or inactive using inactivity trends, contract signals, supporting documentation, and document rationale.
- Review onboarding materials and contracts to fill data gaps, using AI-assisted extraction where it adds value.
- Build and refine simple automation workflows using tools such as n8n or similar platforms to reduce manual validation and enrichment work.
- Test Large Language Model-based extraction approaches to convert unstructured documents into structured outputs, such as JSON, and flag exceptions for review.
- Coordinate quick validation sessions with internal partners to resolve unclear data points and close out supplier records.
- Maintain a progress tracker and share concise updates on outcomes, risks, and next steps.
What you'll bring
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's Degree program studying Business, Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Analytics, or a related field.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to turn incomplete, messy data into consistent, high-quality outputs.
- Proficiency with Excel or Google Sheets, including formulas, filters, pivot tables, and lookup functions.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills; comfortable asking questions and documenting decisions and rationale.
- Curiosity about automation and artificial intelligence, with interest in applying technology to streamline business processes.
- Exposure to automation tools, data workflows, or scripting concepts, such as n8n, Zapier, APIs, JSON, SQL, or Python, is a plus.
- Familiarity with Large Language Models, document extraction, or vendor and procurement systems is a plus, but not required.
