Generate new client business through prospecting, networking, trade shows, and agent visits. Build and grow relationships with agents, collaborate with underwriting/claims, produce proposals, review RFPs, monitor accounts, implement corrective actions, and attend industry events and committees to drive profitable business.

As a Business Development Representative, you are responsible for generating new client business through prospecting, networking and following up on recommendations along with attending Trade Shows and Conferences. Also responsible for cultivating relationships with existing clients and growing profitable business within the agency. Relationships at various levels within the Agency organizations will be key to success. Must be comfortable interacting in both Business and Social settings.

Key Accountabilities/Deliverables:

  • Provide Best in Class Service to all levels of our Agent Base
  • Develop customer accounts and build strong, long-lasting relationships for your assigned Agents.
  • Produce professionally written proposals and communications for clientele and for internal use.
  • Review Agent presented RFP’s and assist in evaluating how we can best participate with the proposal.
  • Collaborate with Underwriting/Claims counterparts.
  • Participate in association committees and regularly attend industry events.
  • Conduct Agent visits to both provide agents information and gather Industry knowledge
  • Review accounts monthly and prepare any needed corrective action plans.
  • Implement actions as necessary to keep agents profitable
  • Other duties as assigned

Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
  • Prior Insurance Industry knowledge and experience
  • Sales personality with a customer focused mentality
  • Previous experience with sales and business development
  • Ability to build and maintain strategic relationships and engage with prospect
  • Strong leadership skills
