Job Summary:

Audubon is seeking a motivated, technically minded, and results-driven Business Development Manager to grow our Corrosion business, including corrosion engineering design, cathodic protection (CP) field services and CP construction. This position is responsible for identifying, developing, and securing new business opportunities with pipeline operators, utilities, industrial facilities, refineries, petrochemical companies, municipalities, and other asset owners requiring corrosion control and CP solutions.

The Business Development Manager will manage opportunities from initial prospecting through qualification, site evaluation, estimating, proposal development, negotiations, and contract award. The successful candidate will build trusted customer relationships, understand cathodic protection and corrosion-control markets, and collaborate closely with estimating, engineering, project management, field operations, and executive leadership to develop safe, technically sound, and commercially successful solutions.

Services may include conventional and deep anode ground beds, impressed-current and galvanic cathodic protection systems, rectifiers, test stations, AC mitigation, troubleshooting, inspections, testing, engineering and commissioning support, and other related corrosion services. This position requires regular travel to customer locations, job walks, industrial facilities, pipeline rights-of-way, and industry events, including frequent overnight and multi-day travel across multiple states.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and execute a business development strategy for Audubon's Corrosion service line offerings.
  • Identify target customers, decision-makers, upcoming capital projects, maintenance needs, bid opportunities, and CP-related deficiencies within assigned markets and territories.
  • Generate qualified opportunities through direct customer relationships, referrals, industry research, networking, cold calling, email outreach, industry associations, and conferences.

Build and maintain relationships with pipeline operators, utilities, engineering firms, EPC contractors, industrial owners, municipalities, and other CP stakeholders.

  • Conduct customer meetings, site visits, job walks, and field evaluations to understand scope, access, constructability, safety requirements, schedule, and technical needs.
  • Assist with preparing accurate budgetary estimates, bids, proposals, presentations, qualifications packages, and other customer-facing deliverables.
  • Lead proposal strategy, pricing discussions, scope clarifications, value engineering, negotiations, and follow-up through contract award.
  • Maintain accurate CRM records, opportunity stages, activity logs, forecasts, customer information, and next steps.
  • Track sales performance, backlog, pipeline development, win/loss results, market activity, and progress toward assigned revenue goals.
  • Support prequalification as needed to position Audubon for CP opportunities.
  • Facilitate “handoff” to project teams during project kickoff and execution, maintain customer communication, identify change-order opportunities, and track customer satisfaction.
  • Represent Audubon professionally at customer offices, job sites, industry events, and other business functions.
  • Travel regularly throughout assigned territories and nationally as business needs require, including frequent overnight and multi-day trips.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Marketing, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred; equivalent industry experience may be considered.
  • Minimum 10 years proven experience in business development, sales, estimating, project management, or operations within cathodic protection, corrosion control, pipeline construction, utility construction, industrial services, or a related field preferred.
  • Working knowledge of cathodic protection systems, corrosion-control practices, pipeline or facility operations, construction methods, and industrial safety expectations preferred.
  • Ability to read and understand scopes of work, drawings, specifications, bid documents, and project requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop customer relationships, uncover needs, communicate value, and convert opportunities into profitable work.
  • Strong verbal, written, presentation, negotiation, organization, and time-management skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel and PowerPoint; experience with CRM, estimating, and proposal-management systems preferred.
  • Self-motivated, accountable, professional, and capable of working independently while collaborating with a geographically distributed team.
