  • We are looking for a high-caliber Business Development Manager (BDM) to lead the incubation and market-making of next-generation technologies within the Cisco Japan CTO Office. In this role, you will be responsible for defining a "Unified Architectural Strategy" that integrates Cisco's broad portfolio to solve complex business challenges.
  • A key component of this role is working in close partnership with CTO Office Solutions Engineers (SEs). You will act as a "buddy" to our SEs, providing high-impact sales support for key solutions and products to ensure technical excellence and strategic alignment in every customer engagement.
  • This is a strategic "Market Making" role that requires deep technical expertise, a visionary mindset, and the ability to bridge the gap between global innovation and Japan’s unique market requirements.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the incubation of advanced technology domains including Quantum, DC Facility (Liquid/Immersion cooling, FMP etc), and AI-integrated software.
  • Partner closely with CTO Office Solutions Engineers to provide technical sales support and architectural guidance for key solutions and products, ensuring a unified value proposition during customer engagements.
  • Manage the end-to-end lifecycle of incubation projects, from technical validation and PoC execution to defining scalable business models.
  • Bridge Japan-specific market insights and high-level requirements to Global Business Entities (BEs) to influence product roadmaps.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders (Architecture leaders, Global BEs, Sales) and external partners (CxOs, Government bodies, Research institutions) to drive adoption.
  • Define and advocate for industry standards and policies that align with Cisco’s architectural vision.
  • Develop strategic architectural narratives that translate complex, emerging technologies into tangible business outcomes for executive stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
  • 10+ years of experience in business development, product management, or high-level technical/Sales consulting in the ICT industry.
  • Deep technical understanding of data center infrastructure, AI software, or advanced security/cryptography domains.
  • Proven ability to work in a "buddy" system with technical specialists (SEs) to drive complex sales pursuits and provide architectural guidance.
  • Proven track record in leading innovation projects or "0-to-1" business development initiatives.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to executive-level stakeholders (CxO, Government officials).
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to orchestrate cross-functional teams in a global matrix organization.
  • Native Japanese proficiency (N1 or higher) and business-level English proficiency (capable of global collaboration).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in national-level projects or industry-wide standardization initiatives.
  • Familiarity with research-to-business transitions (e.g., university/R&D center collaborations).
  • Experience working with global product teams or engineering Business Entities.
