At Vast, our mission is to contribute to a future where billions of people are living and thriving in space. Vast is developing next-generation space stations to ensure a continuous human presence in space for America and its allies, enabling advanced microgravity research and manufacturing, and unlocking a new space economy for government, corporate, and private customers. Using an incremental, hardware-rich and low-cost approach, Vast is rapidly developing its multi-module Haven Station. Haven Demo’s 2025 success made Vast the only operational commercial space station company to fly and operate its own spacecraft. Our team is all-in, committed to executing our mission safely and on time. If you want to work with the most talented people on Earth furthering space exploration for humanity, come join us.
Vast is looking for a Business Development Analyst II, reporting to the Senior Vice President, Satellite Business Development & Commercialization, to support the development of the systems that will be required for the design and build of human-rated space stations.
This will be a full-time, exempt position located in our Long Beach location.
Responsibilities:
- Support the development and execution of large, complex proposals, coordinating inputs across capture, engineering, finance, and contracts to keep deliverables on track and on quality.
- Own specific proposal sections, capability write-ups, or supporting analyses end-to-end, escalating early when a deadline or dependency is at risk.
- Conduct research and analysis on prospective and existing customers, including market positioning, buying behavior, competitive landscape, and mission/program fit with Vast's satellite offerings.
- Leverage AI-enabled tools to accelerate customer research, market analysis, and proposal development, and help identify where automation can improve the team's speed and quality.
- Support day-to-day sales operations, including CRM hygiene, pipeline tracking, reporting cadences, and coordination of deal-stage documentation for leadership visibility.
- Represent Vast in customer-facing settings, including calls, meetings, and industry events, building the relationship and communication skills needed to grow into a front-line BD role.
- Prepare briefing materials, capability decks, and customer-ready content in partnership with Marketing, Engineering, and Communications.
- Track industry, program, and competitive developments relevant to Vast's Satellite business, summarizing key implications for leadership and the broader BD team.
- Build and maintain organized customer and stakeholder databases, including contact history, engagement notes, and account status.
- Act as a hands-on utility player for the BD & Commercialization team, jumping into whatever the pipeline needs — from proposal red-teams to customer follow-ups to internal coordination — with a bias toward getting things done.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 2-4+ years of experience in business development, sales operations, market/customer analysis, or a related commercial field.
- Strong research, analytical, and writing skills, with the ability to translate technical or market information into clear, customer-ready materials.
