We are recruiting for a Bureau Reporting Manager to join our team in Farmington Hills, MI. This role will be hybrid, working three days a week in the office and two from home.
Position Summary:
The Bureau Reporting Manager serves as the subject matter expert responsible for ensuring accurate and timely statistical reporting to regulatory agencies and vendors, with a focus on Workers’ Compensation, ISO, and DMV data. This role leads data validation, error analysis, and compliance with reporting requirements while managing vendor relationships and internal communications. The manager also drives continuous improvement by interpreting regulatory changes, implementing system enhancements, and providing guidance across departments.
Responsibilities:
Manage, train, provide performance feedback, and assign duties of direct reports to ensure productivity, efficiency, and effectiveness.
Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) for Bureau Reporting; advocate for reporting requirements in system implementations and validate test results, tables, and user interfaces.
Interpret statistical reporting requirements and provide guidance to internal departments; coordinate distribution of updates from ISO, WC bureaus, and regulatory agencies.
Oversee validation and correction of premium, paid loss, and outstanding loss data prior to submission to ISO and other regulatory bodies (e.g., MCAR); ensure timely, accurate reporting and promote data integrity through analysis and error review.
Monitor and provide leadership support for vendor and reporting bureau relationships.
Lead the completion of all Workers’ Compensation bureau reporting requirements, including Unit Statistical Reporting, Proof of Coverage, and Aggregate Financial Call submissions.
Ensure DMV reporting is performed timely. Work with vendor and internal staff to ensure accuracy. Address DMV issues as they occur.
Ensure timely and accurate DMV reporting in collaboration with vendors and internal teams; address and resolve reporting issues as needed.
Monitor WC bureau feedback, including errors and criticisms; identify root causes and recommend or implement corrective actions, including system updates and staff education.
Direct preparation and submission of monthly, quarterly, annual, and ad-hoc statistical reports; interpret regulatory documentation (e.g., circulars, special calls, bulletins) and ensure timely compliance.
Maintain internal controls and organized documentation for all statistical reporting, financial calls, and supporting materials.
Engage in ongoing learning to stay current on regulatory changes and best practices in statistical reporting.
Facilitate company-wide and external communication of statistical data and regulatory updates.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
5 years of insurance knowledge and analysis experience.
Demonstrated successful ability to lead people and get results through others. Prior direct manager experience preferred.
Direct experience leading data governance, statistical reporting, data quality, metadata, data warehousing or other large enterprise data management initiatives preferred.
Proficient computer skills required including Microsoft Office Suite.
Demonstrated successful ability to build positive partnerships and work collaboratively with cross-functional business teams.
Ability to think strategically with supporting analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to deal with ambiguity.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels of the organization.
