Job Responsibilities:
POSITION SUMMARY:
Plans, organizes, and directs technical work involving new and existing tooling being integrated into the manufacturing facility. Documents all project activities. Monitors and controls objectives and timetables of tool launches. Serves as a resource to internal contacts with communication and tracking of tooling items within the facility. Maintains ongoing molding capacity studies and new equipment initiatives. Maintains liaison with internal and external contacts. Domestic travel required as needed.
KEY FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
The activities listed below will be performed. Work is performed under minimal supervision and work direction. Functioning as a highly competent engineer, work requires judgment in the independent evaluation, selection, and adaptation of standard company procedures and translates technical guidance into engineering data applicable to the particular assignment. Work is complex, broad, difficult in character, and requires program responsibility, thus ingenuity and evaluation is involved. Plans, organizes, and directs complex assignments which are very broad in nature and require appreciable ingenuity and originality. Researches, plans, and organizes complex assignments requiring development and implementation of new or improved techniques and procedures. Work results in the development of new or refined equipment, materials, processes, products, scientific methods, etc.• Plans, organizes, and directs technical work involving changes to existing tooling and new tooling. Reviews requests from Program Management and makes sure there is adequate information and responds to department needs by coordinating with Tooling Engineer and Molding Department for project timing and completion.• Leads transition of new tools from external build sources into molding department for implementation into production.• Participates in product and tooling design review activities. Must ensure that manufacturing requirements are met.• Documents all responsibilities and/or activities to maintain accurate records of project accountabilities. Updates charts to keep business units informed of project status.• Leads and maintains molding capacity records as well as new capital equipment process; quoting, selection, direction, etc.• Maintains liaison with individuals and units within and outside the company for specific assignments and general professional development.• Performs other functions and assists other staff with projects as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field plus minimum one-year experience; or equivalent. Experience in Design, Tooling, Project, or Program Engineering preferred to possess the skills necessary for successful performance of job duties. Demonstrated understanding of manufacturing processes and production tooling required.• Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills in order to effectively communicate with internal and external contacts when performing job duties.• Demonstrated strong understanding of and ability to utilize computers for quotation requests, creation of reports, charts, graphs, etc. in response to business needs. Must be able to use common technical tools and standard office equipment to perform job duties.• Demonstrated ability to conceptualize, coordinate, integrate internal data, and articulate clearly.• Demonstrated creativity and ingenuity to work on long and short-term assignments which are broad in nature. Project management skills on a medium scale to coordinate projects in accordance with departmental needs.• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage conflicting needs, prioritize, and deal with many issues at one time.• Demonstrated ability to thoroughly research and recommend new products and process and present information.
