What is the team responsible for?Benefit Street Partners ("BSP") is a leading credit-focused alternative asset management firm, who together with its affiliate Alcentra, manages approximately $76 billion in assets under management. BSP is a wholly owned subsidiary of Franklin Resources, Inc. that, together with its various subsidiaries, operates as Franklin Templeton.
Established in 2008, the BSP platform manages funds for institutions, high-net-worth and retail investors across various strategies including: private/opportunistic debt, liquid loans, high yield, special situations, and commercial real estate debt. These complementary strategies leverage the proprietary sourcing, analytical, operational and compliance capabilities that encompass BSP’s robust institutional platform.
The individual in this position will work on a team of 8 CLO operations professionals supporting a CLO business of $18B across 40+ CLOs. BSP’s operational headquarters are based in Boston, MA and support the investment team located in New York, NY.
What are the ongoing responsibilities of a BSP CLO Operations Senior Specialist/Associate?Daily Data Verifications
Portfolio Manager deliverables (Warehouse availability, CLO Test results)
Validation of Issuer/Security attributes (Moody’s/S&P/Fitch ratings, Spreads, Maturity Date)
Monitoring CLO compliance test results. Investigating and validating large movers (WAS test, WARF test, Recovery Ratings, Caa/CCC Exposure)
Investor Reporting
Maintain internal deal calendar and report progress tracker to ensure timely report publication.
Resolve breaks between loan operations support team and Trustee, delivery reporting commentary to Trustee.
Assist in par, cash, trade, and test result tie-outs – Coverage/Collateral Quality Tests and Concentration Limits
Data Integrity
Review and resolve aged trade breaks, past due receivables, cash discrepancies and unapplied wires
Track corporate action elections, working with the Portfolio Managers and trading desk to ensure they are processed accurately and in a timely manner.
Deal Management and Support
Assist in the preparation and issuance of CLO warehouse drawdown requests
Provide support for Boston and Poland colleagues including the calculation of portfolio statistics, ad-hoc reporting and general requests
Participate in initiatives and projects related to the growth and improvement of the CLO platform and the wider business.
3+ years of relevant experience, working with CLOs or in a structured finance environment with a sound knowledge of broadly syndicated loans.
A degree in Finance, Account, or Economics is preferred
A high degree of proficiency in MS Excel
Strong analytical, comprehension and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships with internal teams and external vendors.
Self-motivated, ability to work independently with minimal guidance
A flexible team player who can work on multiple tasks simultaneously and meet challenging deadline.
