Job Summary

The BCM & Security Operations Manager is responsible for ensuring resilience and operational execution of the bank’s Business Continuity Management (BCM) and Security functions. This role focuses on developing, implementing, and maintaining robust BCM frameworks to minimize business disruptions, while also managing physical security operations to protect assets, personnel, and infrastructure.
The incumbent will manage the crisis management planning, security incident response, and compliance with regulatory and industry standards, ensuring that both continuity and security measures align with the bank’s risk appetite and operational needs.
Additionally, the role encompasses security risk assessments, and vendor management to strengthen the bank’s overall security posture and continuity capabilities.

Job Description

Accountability:  Business Continuity Management 60%

  • Develop and socialise a BCM strategy and approach for Absa Bank Seychelles, aligned with Group BCM policy, standards, and procedures.
  • Lead the Threat Assessment and Business Impact Assessment processes to identify critical business and/or operational services, critical processes and enablers, and potential threats to the continuation of business.
  • Collaborate with relevant business units to assess the impact of disruptions to business operations.
  • Develop business continuity strategies based on Threat Assessments and the Business Impact Assessment process.
  • Work with key stakeholders to prioritise recovery objectives and develop appropriate mitigation measures.
  • Define, document, and maintain a comprehensive Business Continuity Plan that addresses the identified threats, and to manage the perceived impact of business disruptions.
  • Ensure that the Business Continuity Plan is distributed, understood, and implemented throughout the business units and in country.
  • Foster a culture of awareness and preparedness in the business cluster/country.
  • Drive the completion of education and awareness initiatives in the business cluster/country in collaboration with Recovery Plan Coordinators.
  • Coordinate the testing of the Business Continuity Plan aligned to annual Red-Zone Simulation as well as testing windows agreed between ARO BCM and the resources managing the Work Area Recovery site.
  • Analyse the results from testing and create projects and/or drive remediation of gaps identified to increase the BCM capability of the business units in country.
  • Coordinate the recovery efforts of the business units in country during a business disruption in collaboration with Recovery Plan Coordinators.
  • Ensure communication structures are established and that the appropriate communications are provided to business units and country Crisis Response Teams.
  • Generate reports for senior management and Governance Risk Committees on the status and compliance of the country’s BCM capability.
  • Participate in the relevant meetings and governance forums that may be required for BCM related matters.
  • Conduct post-incident reviews and assessments to identify areas for improvement and drive the remediation of such improvements to improve the BCM capability of the business units in country.
  • Stay informed about relevant laws, regulations and industry standards related to BCM and recommend strategies and/or improvements to ensure country compliance.

Accountability:  Security Operations split 30%

  • Act as the primary point of contact for reported security incidents, ensuring prompt investigation, resolution, and continuous functionality of security systems.
  • Oversee the processing of access control requests, including commissioning and decommissioning of access rights, while maintaining data integrity in the Access Control System (ACS).
  • Ensure the functionality and upkeep of CCTV systems, proactively retrieve and analyze footage, and provide relevant input when required.
  • Maintain and track security equipment inventory across the business, ensuring proper allocation, functionality, and maintenance.
  • Extract and analyze data sets upon request by the Financial Crime team, supporting investigations and risk assessments.
  • Address findings from Security Risk Assessments (SRA), Key Risk Indicators (KRI), and Key Performance Indicators (KPI), ensuring timely resolution and closure of security gaps.
  • Support in managing relationships with third-party security and maintenance providers, ensuring service levels are met and operational requirements are fulfilled.
  • Assist in the execution of security requirements for Corporate Real Estate Services (CRES) projects, ensuring security measures align with business needs. This includes integrating access controls, surveillance systems, and other security infrastructure into new developments, renovations, and relocations to mitigate potential risks.
  • Support the Head of Security in the execution of the security strategy at the country level, ensuring alignment with corporate policies.
  • Serve as the acting Country Security Manager in the absence of the primary role holder, maintaining availability 24/7 for critical security incidents or emergencies.

Risk and Control: Time split 10%

  • Ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements, Enterprise Wide Risk Management Framework and internal Absa Policies and Policy Standards.
